I have BIG BOX OF ART and I have installed the images from the CDs on my hard drive, and I went into Edit/Options/CD-ROM Drives/and listed the folders under "Also look for image files in the following locations" and checked the box, but when I go back to the thumbnail viewer, and click on an image that is definitely in the listed folders (like a vector clip art image), the program is unable to find the image and I have to insert the CD.

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?
Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is
for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like
you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from
other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before
installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use
"troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program
installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility".
This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program
will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote
Some products contain bonus CDs with extra graphics. These CDs are not
installed onto your computer. When you want to browse them, select a
document in the program and go to Insert - Graphic. This will open the
Insert Graphic dialog box. You will use this window to navigate through
the CD and preview all the bonus categories of art. To add an image to
the project, select the image and click the Insert/Open button.
You can use the Camera without the installing the software supplied on the software installation disc.
The simplest way to transfer the photos from the Camera to the Computer is to connect it to the USB port of a Computer then follow the following steps:
1. For Windows Computer: (a) as soon as the Camera is connected the computer recognizes it as a removable drive. (b) open the windows exlorer by pressing the "Windows + E" key together. (c) locate the removable drive in the windows explorer that represents the connected camera. (d) double click the drive to navigate through the files and folders, then double click on the DCIM folder to view all the images.or navigate through other available folders to check if the images are stored in them too. (e) select all the desired images then copy them by pressing "CTRL+C" then paste them on the hard drive of the Computer by pressing "CTRL+V".
2. For Mac" (a) as soon as the Camera is connected the computer recognizes it as a "NO NAME" folder and display it on the Desktop. (b) double click the "NO Name" folder to navigate through the files and folders, then double click on the DCIM folder to view all the images. or navigate through other available folders to check if the images are stored in them too. (c) select all the desired images then copy them then paste them on the hard drive of the Computer by using the copy and paste operation.
Furthermore, you may use Windows Fax Viewer, Windows Photo Gallery or Windows Movie Maker to view and edit images in Windows and iPhoto in Mac.
Now, when you say USB recognizes it, do you mean you see the drivers being installed? Because if you are the OS is recognizing something has been plugged in.
Sometimes updating the USB Drivers will be needed. Do that by visiting the maker of your computer and search for Drivers and Updates on their Web Site, look for 2.0 USB drivers class, download that package to your desktop. The driver might be in the form of a Zip FIle. In that case, unzip the files using standard WinZip program or use software provided by computer, to a folder called cab. The driver program might show preference were it wants to unzip to. If so, let it do its thing. Then afterwards find the folder (cab or other folder) run USB driver by clicking install exe file. Note that all periperials need to be unconnected from all USB ports ( the port the laser printer connects to the computer at ) before updating USB drivers. So check cables for solid reconnection after installing drivers.
Its important to recognize the os you have. You'll find that information by clicking on Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > System.
After doing this update, reconnecting the hard drive via USB Port.
When you put the Program install disk in follow the prompt but instead of selecting the "Typical" instalation select "Custom". This way the install will instruct you to select the two or one or none Art cd.s. I assume your copy of Printmast 17 Platinum has all 4 cd's?.If not then you will only have installed about clip 950 art etc. instead of 19,000 plus when you install the Art disk 1&2.
The only drawback is that the two art disc's add another 1gb to the hard drive usage.
I hope this helps.
What program do you want to use the clip arts with? I have seen this before, and you don't have to install anything to use the clips. Technically you can just leave them on the disk. When you open the disk though, and see the different category folders, highlight one by clicking it once with your mouse, then right-click and choose COPY. Minimize the window and then open My Documents and then My Pictures. Right-click an empty space in this window and choose Paste. This will transfer a copy of these clips to your computers hard drive. Then open the program you want to use them with and find the option that will let you insert an image or clip art and then browse to your My Pictures location that you copied the folder to. Let me know the program you want to use the clips with, though, and I can give you more help.
Contacted Fixya's Support Team (Premium Service). Their proposed solution: be sure to install (copy) the other ClickArt CD art files into the same Art Gallery file folder as PM Plat 17. Have not tried it yet, but makes sense that it would work. Thanks for your help - Fixya later!!
Try other CD's that you have and see if it read those or automatically run. If you tried other CDs and they can be read then it maybe you may have to inspect your Printmaster CD for scratches or clean it off if dirty. If your CD Rom doesnt read Any CD at all then maybe it may need a little cleaning inside or that you may need to replace it.
