Hello, I have "HP zd8000". I press "delete" key during BIOS POST - laptop emergency shutdown (IMMEDIATELY, PER SE) and now don't startup. On laptop - all the LEDs is out-of-work, except AC power light diode, even the power/standby button LED is out-of-work. AC power - ok, battery - ok. Disassemble, remove the Li-element, for unset CMOS (2 hours), uselessly - Notebook Does Not Startup. Voltage measure rate on MAX1772 (ACOK, 12-pin, have charge of AC power) - OK, either as follows from illumination.

You need to change boot options in BIOS. Press required F key during boot. Look on the screen since Function keys vary with systems. May be F10? In boot options make optical drive (CD\DVD) 1st. Save and reboot. You should get "Press any key to boot from CD".
Note: Some systems have an ad-hoc boot option during startup. Thus eliminating the need for BIOS change. Might be F12

Go to Start->Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager-> select you drive here and delete by pressing del key. Then scan for new hardware. It will show you this drive or any other new drive. Install its drivers and off you go.
