Intermittant disruption of Picture and Sound on View TV/HDMI only

Just Bought a Yamaha 663 and hooked up to my Samsung 52 LCD. One HDMI from the TV to the Reciever and one HDMI from the Digital Cable Box to the Reciever.

I am agetting intermittant picture and sound disruption when in this mode. All other inputs seem to work fine until ......I tried hooking up the cable box to the DVD input via HDMI ( which works fine) , but it does the same thing as soon as I enter the cable.

Brought the reciever back , and new one seemed to work for about an hour, but is now doing the same thing.

TVworks fine when I re input the HDMI strait into the cable box , so it can be my connections
Any ideas !

I have the same problem I have exchanged the reciever thinking that the HDMI output was bad. When I put my Blu Ray player cable directly into my TV it works fine, but if I put it into the Yamaha 663, and put the HDMI from the 663 into the TV it does not work.

    Any ideas??

Try uplugging everything for 10 minutes, as I was told

I fixed it for a while, but had to disconnect the system again. Now I cannot get it to work again

Did you figure it out ?

i have the same issue and have been trouble shooting for over a month with the seller and we have no solutions. i have my satalite connected to the amp  with a dvi cable with an adaptor to hdmi. i have the out put running through an hdmi. it works fine when i connect the satalite directly through the cable to my tv and when i connect the satalite through a different cable to the amp and still run my out put through the other hdmi. so the problem has to be in the amp.

If i am not mistaken you can select the HDMI signal going out on the 663, this means you should select to have only pictures to go out as sound will have to be reproduced by the 663.
So HDMI output setup on the 663 should indicate image only, no sound.

Read page 18 of the manual for info on HDMI and compatability with signals...I use cable hdmi to flat screen and just run audio to the 663.. also on the 663 it has to be set along with the flat screen in the set up on the menu's for both components. I have also had to reset the flat screen to auto for correct picture as per toshiba manual.

How do I hook up a Yamaha RX-V377 receiver to a Samsung HW-H450 soundbar?

Not sure why you would want to set things up this way, but you have to set the audio output in the receiver hdmi setup menu to tv. This will allow the receiver to pass audio info out of the hdmi jack. By default, this is turned off.

BD and DVR hooked up to the receiver and from the receiver to the TV right? If yes: Your receiver set to pass sound trough to the TV, if you want sound from the home theater setting has to be changed.

You should not lose any picture quality from the DVD player. I am currently having the similar setup with PS3 as the Blu-ray DVD player with HDMI and a Samsung DVD as regular player with component cable to a Samsung LCD TV. Remember the quality on Blu-ray is better than normal DVD so don't expect more than what it is.

Intermittant Audio with Yamaha RX-V465 only from cable box

I have the same receiver... You can try pressing the Option button and choosing Signal Info to see what audio signal the receiver sees and if that changes over time. Maybe the cable box is not outputting according to specifications... TV can live with that, but receiver maybe can't.
You can also try to connect the cable box via SPDIF cable (optical or coax) to see if it helps or not.

Picture sound blackout (blink) when cable box/receiver HDMI used

Onkyo service told me, the second timethat I called them, that there is a known HDMI handshake issue with Motorola and Atlanta Scientific cable boxes. The only solution, and it was a solution, is to connect the box through the HDMI 1 port ONLY. All the other (2,3,4) result in blinking/dropping of signal. I did this, changed the cable/satelilte setting to HDMI 1 and all is well.

Want to add all of my video components to my rxv 663 reciever

The rx-v663 has 2 hdmi inputs, and 1 HDMI Outputs, The way I would run is 1 HDMI in dedicated to the Blu-ray, This will do the audio HD True digital, DTS-HD , then video out to the TV for HD 1080p resolution, On the cable box out do you have an HDMI 1.3? If so sport it to the other available receiver HDMI IN, net the same in/out as the blue ray, minus a 1080p result video which will only happen Blu-ray, cable will result 1080i HD and audio HD will vary with the signal broadcast format.

Suggestions to hook up HDMI cables

I'd suggest running all HDMI.  I believe your receiver has 2 HDMI in's and one out.  Run the out to your TV and run the components to the inputs on the receiver.  This way the receiver will control the video.  Works good for me!  Hope this helps!
