Memory upgrade issue

Have a FIC K8-800T mother board that came w/ 2-512mb DDR400 PC3200 non-ecc memory. Did not get a manual w/ it. Found specs of FIC site that said it could hold 2GB of memory. Purchased a 1 GB DDR400 PC 3200 non-ecc memory. Board will not boot if I have all three in the slots.

This motherboard can only have slots 1 and 2 or 1 and 3 in use. You can only use slot 1 alone, if you use double-sided PC3200 memory, according to the directions, but a BiOS upgrade might fix this.

Can you boot to bios and see if all the memory shows
you are probably gonna need to remove your 2-512 and replace with another 1gb

Most ram has to go in pairs. Buy another stick of the 1GB, and it will run fine.

Asus gives this as the board memory spec:

I suspect you bought DDR2 type memory.

I have an asus k8v-mx motherboard running only 512 mb of ram what type of ram would suit this mother board and could i fit a 1 x 2mb ram instead of 2 x 1mb?

Dear Sir,

*********** board is Asus old p4 Mother board. It supports maximum 1GB RAM of DDR 400(DDR1). According to your post your computer having only one 512 MB working RAM. If you want good purformance you can upgrade your computer by purchasing another 512MB DDR400 RAM and install it on another RAM slot.If your computer have only one working RAM slot, you can purchase 1GB DDR400 RAM & install it on older RAM place. I think it solves your problem.if you have any problem come back with more information. I will try to assist you more accurately.

good luck

Memory upgarade

Yes, it will work. Remember that all memory will operate at the speed of the slowest memory though so unless you're completely replacing the memory it won't increase the speed of the memory.

you can upgrade to a max of 2gb on that board. These are your 1gb options: 1GB PC2700 333MHz DDR Memory, 1GB PC2100 266MHz DDR Memory, and 1GB PC3200 400MHz Non-ECC Unbuffered 184-pin DDR DIMM Memory. Install a set of any of these and your off and running.
