Question about Maytag MER5550 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Oven turns off and displayes F2,F3,and sometimes F4.

The oven seems to heat up fine. After its been on for a while it displays a F2 fault and turns itself off.It can be turned back on but faults every couple of minutes. It's not over heating, a temperature guage placed in the oven shows it maintaining the setpoint. Thanks for any help.

5550 The error code ?F2? will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC (Electronic Range Control) or ?clock? senses a runaway heat condition during the ?cook? or the ?clean? modes. It could be caused by the oven temperature sensor, by the ERC or by the wire harness between the oven temperature sensor and the ERC. If the error code ?F2? is displayed in the ?cook? or ?clean? modes only, then the problem is a bad oven temperature sensor or its wire harness. If the error code ?F2? is displayed in the time of the day mode also, then most likely a problem is the bad ERC. The access to the oven temperature sensor plug and the wires is from the back only. You have to pull the oven out of the wall (if it?s free standing) or remove it from the cabinet (if it?s built in). Disconnect the power and remove the rear cover. Check the resistance across the oven temperature sensor. It is supposed to be about 1100 Ohms at room temperature. If the resistance is incorrect, the oven temperature sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. If not, check all the wires from the oven temperature sensor to the ERC. Replace all wire nuts if any. If it is not the sensor and wires, you have to replace the ERC. To get the right replacement part just click on the link http://tinyurl.com/34ujtl , then type the model number of your oven in the search box, click on the ?search? button and in the new window type the word ?sensor? or the word ?clock? in the ?search by keyword? box and click the ?search? button. Range displays code of F4 and stops working

F4 Oven temperature sensor (RTD) shorted Replace Oven temperature sensor (RTD)

The F2, F3 and F4 codes refer to problems with the oven temperature sensor or the keypad. If you see the two-digit F2 code, it means your keypad has shorted and the ERC must be replaced. The four-digit F2-E0 code means that the oven temperature is too high. Test the door lock and the relay operation, and correct as necessary. A two-digit F3 code means an open temperature sensor or thermal fuse, so those parts must be replaced. A four-digit F3-E0, F3-E1, F3-E2 or F3-E3 code or a two-digit F4 code means that either the oven is registering as too hot or the temperature sensor has shorted. Either way, the oven temperature sensor must be replaced.
Hope helps.

Fault codes F1 and F2

Just two work there:
1.- Replace the touchpad or the clock (ERC) if the code "F1" is displayed. Disconnect the ribbon connector to the touchpad. If no code is displayed after an hour, replace the touchpad. If the code displays again, replace the clock.
2.- Replace the oven temperature sensor if "F2," "F3" or "F4" is displayed. "F2" indicates the oven temperature is too hot and the oven temperature sensor is suspect. "F3" or "F4" indicates the oven temperature sensor or shorted or open.

Parts replacement coudl look in www.repairclinic.com

Hope helps.

My kitchenaide convection oven is displaying the E1 F4 error.

KitchenAid ovens are popular for their classic design and simple user interface. When a problem occurs in the function of a KitchenAid oven, an error code will display on the clock as soon as the malfunction registers in the oven's memory. Each code corresponds to a particular type of malfunction. Most can be corrected by disconnecting the power supply for one minute and then restarting. If the code persists, either replace the indicated part or contact a service center. F0/F1
  • The F0 and F1 codes refer to electrical issues. If the code appears as only two digits, the problem is a transistor failure, so you must replace the electronic range control (ERC). If the code displays four digits, it will read F0-E0, which indicates a failure switching from analog to digital, or F1-E1, which refers to a safety flip-flop. Both problems require the replacement of the ERC.
  • F2/F3/F4
  • The F2, F3 and F4 codes refer to problems with the oven temperature sensor or the keypad.

You have a faulty keypad. You could probably special order this part from a local appliance parts supply store for 50-60$ or purchase a new microwave.

GE Oven displaying both F2 and F3 error codes; bad ERC or temp sensor?

F3 is Open oven temperature sensor circuit.
F4 Shorted oven temperature sensor circuit .
    F7 Component failure.

To fix this you need to read oven temperature sensor circuit at oven temperature sensor ( approx 1000 ohms at room temp); check for cut or pinched wire or loss of contact, if wirings are ok, then replace the probe.
