My Samsung M520 slider screen goes white and freezes

Lately, when I slide my M520 up to use it, I will encounter a white screen and it takes a while for the screen to unfreeze. I cannot do anything with my phone when this happens. What, if anything, can I do to fix the problem?

My phone does the same thing and has fuzzy lines through it at times too. I got this phone brand new 5 months ago to replace my LG Rumor that had the same problem.

I also have the same prob. I bought a rumor a year and a half ago and I had to replace it, no lie, 10 times. Then I get the Samsung M520 to solve this problem and my phone tonight freaks out with lines and then fades into a white screen. I am calling Sprint's Insurance to get my phone swapped! It's rediculous!!

Hi,

The part that is bad is the Ribbon flex cable that geos from the main board to the LCD board. Over time the cable becomes chaffed and will lose continuity between the traces. It can be fixed with

Tessco Part #: GH97-07715A

It does need to be soldered on the LCD side.

QUESTION:::::::::: I have an M520 that used to take great pictures - now lately the picture is distorted and seems to be all grainy/green. I\'ve tried each of the options, resolutions, brightness controls, etc. Sometimes (not every time) after I make a change to the brightness or resolution or white balance setting the picture goes back to normal - but not everytime. Most of the time it\'s just unusable because it\'s so distorted... almost like it\'s over exposed? I\'ve literally checked every setting available to no avail. I want to say it started happening after doing a firmware upgrade. Anyone else having that problem?

My screen is white and will not change

Those slide up Samsung phones have always done the same thing to me.
Close it and let it go dark and then slide it up and/or turn it off and back(at least thats how i use to solve the problem.) on its just Samsung because I have had several and i swear they have all done the same exact thing!!!

I just want to completely disassemble my phone. how do i do it?

Start by removing the battery and the four small Phillips-head screws around the battery. Next, remove the plate on the back of the phone, below the battery panel. The panel is stuck in place with sticky foam and might be hard to peel off. Then remove the two small phillips-head screws. Next use a tiny (glass repair kit) flat-head screwdriver to pry the two halves of the base apart at the seam.

This is where it gets tricky. Gently take each piece off one-by-one. But to separate the screen you have to slide it half way and hold it in place while you unplug the ribbon cable from the circuit board in the base of the phone. Then disconnect the arm from the slider and slide the phone open to remove the two screws behind the silver stickers on either side of the camera "shutter". Now pry the slider housing apart as with the base.

Why does the screen on my Samsung M520 turn white?

the problem comes from the led film behind the screen. There is absolutly nothing you can do about it now. When you got your fingers all over the screen by sliding it, it starts to break. It isn't going to get better, probably only going to get worse. the only thing that you can do is buy anotherone im afraid

White screen on my samsung rant

There is a fix. Ok so what you wanna do is power off your Samsung rant then you take out the battery and put it back in. After that you open to the slide pad and hold down the T and Y keys then power it on while still holding the 2 keys after the Samsung logo pops up then you can let go. Keep the slide keys open while it is powering on. You can close the slide pad when your screen shows up then it should be fixed. Well hope this works for you it worked for my moms phone when she was having this problem. Note: If your phone screen freezes or turns white again just redo the process.

White screen driving me CRAZY!!!

The issue you are having deals with the "flex cable" connected to the motherboard of your phone to the LCD screen. This cable is very important, because it transfer pixels so that you can view your handset and operate it. Over excessive opening and close the slider, can wear in the flex cable to cause the white/garbled screen. It's not your fault, but the manufacturer and their effort to fail to make a device that can withstand excessive sliding. Check with your local service & repair store. If you do not have insurance, other options will be given you. Thanks. Hope this helps!
