Internal speakers stay on even after headphones are plugged in

I have an acer 5050 and the internal speakers stay on even when I plug in headphones or external speakers.I can not figure out how to turn them off and still allow me to use external audio devices.when I plug in the headphones a window comes up from ''realtek'' asking me what I plugged in.Is there anything I can do short of tearing out the internal speakers?

How to fix my acer aspire 5740G model lap top sound distortion, When it with Speaker connection its clear, Without speaker its more distorted, any one can give solution?

This is due to the internal speakers which might need replacing, it sounds better with external speakers because they are plugged into the headphone socket which shows the internal speakers are damaged, get them checked out.

No sound please help

Built-in Speakers might have been dead in this case.

it has to be checked in person, so it is advised to take it to a service center.

Suggestion: Use external speakers or headphones until there is a need, as internal spares for laptops are costly and not available easily in market.

Headphone jack not working

Hi,

I find that there is a problem with your headphone speaker.
Try with some other headphone, even if it is not working, then you need to take it to the service center.

Cheers,
Mr.Maduraikaran.

I've plugged my headphone into my acer 5336 but the sound still comes out of the speaker?

The headphone socket has in it a small switch that is triggered when a jack is plugged in - it switches the internal speakers off and sends the signal to the jack . In your case that switch has failed and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire audio socket - a job only a repair shop can do.

No sound from speakers

Believe it or not, not all speaker plugs, even if they are of the same size are NOT made the same. Some times the "male" PLUG pushes into the "female" socket in such a way that it makes NO connection or does not make the right connection causing the headphones not to work.
TEST: play music that u can hear through the internal laptop speakers, and while the music is playing, plug in the headphones.
The internal speakers SHOULD cut out, and under normal conditions the music should pass through the headphones.
If the speakers cut out and the headphones don't work, your plug is damaged.
If the speakers DON'T cut out after u plug in the headphones, your plug is open.
Depending on the audio circuit, your audio amp. inside the laptop is going to get damaged.
It depends on the WAY the audio circuit was made.

No sound output from rear speaker jack

Plugging headphones into the computer will disable sound output from the sound card by design.
