SOURCE: washer wont spin, dont know how to open top of

Hi Mr_C,

Front panel access is easy with just a putty knife, a flashlight and a flat screwdriver... but I'd almost wager that the belt is fine and the motor pulley/clutch is trashed.

Here's how you do it... {{{UNPLUG THE WASHER}}}

Shine your flashlight into the gap between the top and front panels. You'll see a couple of clips in there about 3" in from either side. Use your putty knife to slide into the gap and depress these clips while at the same time pulling the front panel toward you. (You may have to POP the end of the putty knife a time or four, those clips don't wanna let go easy) Do this one side at a time. Now the front panel will rotate out about 45 degrees and lift off of the 2 clips at the bottom. Set the front panel aside.

This gives you access to the cabinet where you can use your flashlight to inspect it. If it turns out that you are right and the belt is thrashed, Great! It's a part number WH1X2026 and can be purchased for about $10.00. If it's what I suspect (the pulley/clutch on the bottom of the motor) that's a different story. It's a part number WH20X10019 and retails for about $170.00 (you gotta replace the whole motor, not just the pulley/clutch).

If I were running this service call and found it to be the motor? I'd recommend not repairing it because you'd have more invested in the repair than what the machine is actually worth. "Upside Down" in car-speak.

I really hope this helps you,

SOURCE: Washer won't aggitate or spin.

your water pressure tube is clogged at the tub. Take the back of the control panel off and blow or a small balst of compressed air down this tube and try the washer again. Powder detergent clogs this tube at the bottom of the tub and does not tell your pressure switch to shut the water off at the proper level thus overflowing your tub.

SOURCE: Washer fills and drains but won't aggitate or spin

Since the washer is less than an year old it must be under a warranty.Try contacting the customer care and get it replaced.

Generally for such a problem,the following checks need to be done.
* Test the lid switch
* Test the timer control
* Test the centrifugal switch
* Test the water level switch
* Inspect the motor coupler
* Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
* Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
* Test the motor
* Inspect the pulley
* Test the transmission

In your case I would advice to get your machine replaced with a new one.Good luck,Please do rate the solution if accepted.

Washer doesn't spin GE WCSR2090

does it aggitate??

the safety button is most likely broken, you can see the small hole where the figer pushes down to stop the spin cycle, if the washer does not aggitate, then most likely it the safety switch.
get it replace, or bypass(not adviseable) but only when you need it,
Water that doesnt move tend to get stinky fast!

You start the washer and the water will fill up to where it is suppose to but will not start to aggitate.The water will drain but the drum won't spin,than it will fill up again and it won't agitate...

Your drain hose is maybe too low and therefore gravity is draining out the washer OR the drain hose is too tight in the drain and a siphoning effect is happening.

Check your motor drive coupler. Tilt washer back against wall and look between motor and transmission . You will see a rubber grommet and two plastic couplers on each end of rubber , They may appear broken or you will see rubber shavings under washer.
