Question about Alienware PC Systems Alienware m17x10-1847DSB Gaming Notebook
When I turn it on, the noise comes on and lasts for about 15 sec then goes off. Once it gets to my logon screen it comes on again, then goes off when screen is loaded. It will then come on if I start up any program and will go off 15 seconds or so after the program is running.
It sounds as if your hard drive is starting to go, either that or your cooling fan. These would be the only two things I can think of that would cause a "humming" sound. I'm also guessing hard drive due to the fact that the drive spins until the program is loaded into your RAM then lets the RAM take over so it gets quiet again. Just a thought, it doesn't cost anything to open the bottom and listen closely. Good luck!
