DVD region number (playable region number)
This DVD head unit will play back any disc
whose region number is 2 (or All). DVDs
with a region number other than those listed
below, cannot be played on this DVD player.
Sorry to let you know, but the AVIC D1 does not play movie DVDs. It only has a DVD ROM drive that reads Data DVDs, in other words the navigation DVDs. You will have to add your own DVD Player or a Pioneer DVD Changer to be able to watch movies with the AVIC D1.
I'm having the same problem with my unit but it didn't happen right away and I bought this off of a friend. It slowly happened over time where it would get worse. I took it apart and there was a plastic piece out of place so now it will play dvds but still says bad disc to my cds even though I cleaned the lens on it. Any type of solution would be great.
I couldn't find any info on this players region code, but most DVD stores carry DVDs from all regions, and many players today can play DVDs of any region.
To be sure call the local DVD store that you like and ask them what region DVDs they have.
Hope I helped ;]
