When did you notice this started? it may have taken a windows update and/or a security fix. If you have windows updates set to auto, it may well have taken an update and no longer have the feature, look on the toshiba web site and see if there is any info on the specific problem you are having. I would do it for you but I am with a couplle guys who are "down" and they need to get back up, so do a search on the toshiba site with what you described, "notebook touchpad, no longer functions", also try the msft website. good luck and if you cant get it straightned out, ask for me tomorrow, and we can go step by step, peace

If battery works and ac adapter has problems that means electrolytic capacitors maybe dried up(not supplying the current needed to run the laptop) and has to be cured by using the laptop more often.

The cursor jumps around on my E-105-S1402, suddenly moving to an entirely different place on the screen or moving back in a typed line so what I'm typing suddenly is inserted in a previuosly typed...

Yes.
Most probably, you are involuntarily very lightly touching the surface of your touchpad with the base of your (usually right) thumb.
Some touchpad drivers have special settings to ignore very light strokes to avoid this effect - try your pointing device settings in the control panel.
If yours doesn't, you just have to remember to keep your hands at such an angle as to avoid contact with the touchpad. A soft wristrest may help, as it elevates your wrists a bit; gel-type wrist support is my favorite.
Good luck :)
