- Since 2 days my screen goes black without notice. Once I hook up to an external monitor and use the screen switch function and adjust the settings (back to 1280x768) I was able to switch back to the notebook screen, but this morning it turned black after I disconnected the external monitor.Anybody any idea/advise. Thanks a lot.

Was using my laptop when all of a sudden the screen got really dark and was barely able to see anything. Now I cannot see anything at all unless I hook it up to my TV. What needs to be done to fix this?

What button switches the monotor back on. Just in case I did switch it off.

I have been told that it is most probably a bad motherboard if you cannot see a picture even with an external monitor hookup. Try hooking up an external monitor, if you can see anything on it, it may be something simple like you switched off the monitor with on of the function buttons, or something more complex like a bad cathode ray.
