Blinking Red Power Light

After watching fireworks in HD on the 4th, the screen went blank. Sound works fine. It has been in service for The front POWER LED is blinking 6 times red, pauses and then repeats. If I press the power button I get 4 green blinks and then the same 6 red blinks. I cannot turn off the set using the remote or the front onoff button. I tried a hard reset by unplugging the set and then plugging it back in, no joy. Manual says if power LED blinks 3 times it may be the cover to the projection bulb. I have removed the bulb and it looks fine. I reinstalled bulb, no joy. I checked the voltage that powers the bulb, sperry reads zilch. I also checked for continuity between the two leads on the bulb and it reads infinity, which makes me think the bulb is bad. When I press the power button I hear a click from within, but no fan action. A couple of questions: Is the service port on the back of the unit for technicians only? Is the first step replacing the bulb or do you think it may be something else? I am willing to perform further dissassembly of the unit and check voltages, continuity and peruse for fried electronic components. Thanks.

Attempting to get anything on the screen ends in failure. I don't get anything on the screen with those button combinations to see which ones and how many times they have occured. What I think you are saying is it is time for a service call for repairs, yes? Or are there components I can buy and replace for this problem?

Update to the blinking red power light. I saw another entry with the same symptoms (6 red blinks then a pause, no power) and decided to try replacing the thermal fuse, Sony part number 191002393 per the recommended fix. The original fuse sits directly under the bulb and ostensibly will keep the set from getting too hot by blowing and cutting power to the lamp circuit. The original thermal fuse is visible when you take the bulb out and can be accessed through the front, but you will need to take the rear cover of the unit off and remove the fan so you can have access from both the front and the back. Easy fix. The new thermal fuse is much smaller and simple to install. Set works great!

It sounds like the horizontal (H stop) and vertical (V stop) has gone bad. Check Cap 515 and 516. IC1509, Q1505 and the jungle IC, IC206. You can also bring up these fault codes on-screen to see a list of the problem numbers with the abbreviation of the problem and the number of times this problem has occurred. This is slightly different than entering the service mode. To see the diagnostic screen, press the following buttons: Display, Channel, 5, volume Minus, ( not plus ) then Power. This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. Each of the problems named, are abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC.

If you know which components to replace, you can buy them yourself off the internet or a TV repair shop. That would save you some money. Parts really aren't that expensive for this type of TV. It's the labor charges that kill us. Most shops have a beginning rate of $100.

How do I fix the 6 times red LED blink error on my Sony KDL-46CX520 TV? Already changed the Power Supply board without success.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

I was watching tv and the screen went blank. It

You would have to try an INIT and see if it causes the tv to be operational again. It is something that you have to be walked through step by step by step and can erase the memory of the tv if done improperly. Call Sharp tomorrow morning at 9AM CST and someone can walk you through one. Call 800-237-5277 or if you have an aquos advantage model call 87-332-7867

The power comes on and then turns off and the front green power light blinks.

There is a small IC in the power supply section,
not the IC regulator that's the problem.

Our 52" widescreen LCD TV just quit working.

This set uses a lamp ( not picture tubes ) The part # is TS-CL110U. Almost certainly it is bad. They are easily obtainable and you can easily change it yourself.

Power led blinks but no picture or sound

Had the same problem myself. Took some doing but I managed to find a service bulletin that I downloaded. The problem is with the siene module and all you need to do is unplug connector JP63A from the main board and your TV will work again.
Take the back off the TV (there are a lot of screws) and look on the left hand side of the main circuit board that is mounted in the center of the TV. You will see a small white connector that is labelled JP63A, simply unplug it. Plug the TV back in and let it reboot. That's it, should be able to watch immediately.
