Question about Flat Panel Televisions
Was watching my Toshiba 42HP66 plasma, when I heard a click and picture went black. Sound worked for a while, now only hear sound occasionally. Picture is still totally black. Just under 2 years old. What's up with this?
I too have this problem with no help from hh Gregg, where I bought the tv, and no help from Toshiba. I resorted to calling the BBB and complaining about the defective workmanship. I took the tv, which is less than 2 years old, apart and found the y-sus board, behind the y-sus board is a foam rubber spacer to seperate the circut board from the backside of the screen. I think this pad is designed to prevent heat buildup in the y-sus board. The pad itself is held on by glue and that glue melted causing the y-sus board to short out. I noticed this after finding a tacky substance behind the board. The heat from the plasma screen melted this and also the pad itself. Toshiba claims no resposibility because the tv was out of warranty. Thanks Toshiba.
