I have a dell vostro A860 laptop.not working to Touchpad. How to Fix Touchpad Not Working in Laptop

What you can initially do is to update the driver.
  1. Press on the windows key + R. A run box will appear.
  2. Type devmgmt.msc then click on ok. The device manage will appear.
vincent_von_2.jpg
  1. Click on the plus sign besides mice and other pointing devices.
  2. Right click on the item that will be pertaining to your touch pad.
  3. Choose update driver and let the internet work for you.
If this does not work, you will need to totally reinstall the driver.
  1. On the same screen (device manager) right click on the touch pad driver again, the choose uninstall.
  2. follow the prompts for uninstallation. You might wanna uninstall any mouse related drivers as well (these application can also cause conflicts thus causing your touch pad not to work)
  3. download the touch pad driver available from the link I provided below.
  4. follow the prompts for installation.
  5. restart
Dell Vostro Driver list (click here to view all available drivers for your portable system)
Dell Vostro Touch Pad Driver (click here to download the touch pad driver)
It this does not work, you will need to call Dell Technical Support to have the laptop serviced. That is if the portable still has warranty. If not, then you will need to buy a USB mouse as a replacement.

Mouse keeps jumping on dell latitude 410

Hi David,

If you are using touch-pad of your laptop try changing the sensitivity to lower in your touch-pad settings. If not; uninstall the touch-pad driver and re-install (or update) it, this will help if the driver is corrupted. OR try using a USB mouse and see this error occurs or not. If this jumping problem is not repeating then it will be the hardware problem of your laptop's touch-pad which a service technician can fix it. Thank you.

Hi

Have you done all the windows updates ???
start

check for updates
install them all then restart laptop

if this does not correct things
start
right click my computer
go to computer properties
device manager
scroll down to find mouse/touchpad
un install it
restart laptop
windows should then on start up find new hardware
and install the touch-pad correctly
and may ask for another restart

if still no good try here www.acer.com
go to support/downloads
find you make model and operating system as in xp or vista or windows 7

then scroll down and find the touch-pad driver
download it
install it
restart and keep fingers crossed

Touch paid problm

You need to update the touch pad drivers from your computer manufacturer's website for example if you are usning Dell computer the visit dell.com and if HP then visit hp.com and go to support and drivers and then try to search for touch pad drivers, download it on desktop and install it and then restart your computer.

Hope this would fix the issue.

Touchpad of my Dell laptop stops working the moment I plug in the adaptor. Otherwise, on battery, it works perfectly fine.

Hi there!

You'll need some updates for that computer!

Download the latest BIOS for your computer.

Download it at the support website of the dell,

That will be support.dell.com

After you flash it update the driver for your touch pad,
The driver for it is in the same website it should be named sypnatics,

If the problem still persist, try to toggle the power options of that computer to maximize and it it still
does the same thing, then you'll need to replace the motherboard of that computer.

When typing sometimes an extra space appears between words. I have turned off the touchpad when an external mouse is attached. Has anyone else experienced this issue.

1) Check touch pad sensitivity settings

2) Install Latest touch pad drivers from support.dell.com

3) Insall Latest bios update from support.dell.com

4) check whether issue exists in safe mode / if working fine in safe mode then it is software issue

Dell Latiture D600 Touchpad not working!

Have you downloaded and installed the latest glide pad drivers from Dell?

Upon starting your laptop I would enter the bios setup screens and navigate the startup screens using Alt+P to find the pointer settings and set your or check that yours is using Glide Pad only, If you so choose to use an external USB travel mouse, this setting must be changed to Serial only.

Once, you download and install the latest drivers for the Glide Pad, and by the way, the Glide Pad on the D600 series is its only weak link in an otherwise best in class laptop.

To access the sensitivity settings for your Glide Pad after installing the new driver or in your case this may be reinstalling (I have to do this way to often) open Mouse within Control Panel and the last Tab is your Glide Pad. Here you can change a lot of the property values for things like sensitivity and double tap scrolling etc. Your mention of the mouse traveling up and to the right in most case is normal for this laptop.

Here is the link for the Glide Pad driver update. If this link has expired, here is the permanent location. Just click on the download button on this page. Download and move to a unique folder as the file name won't be of help. Move to something like c:\software\Dell\Glide Pad\

Regards,
Worldvet
