Hello my dell inspiron 1525 touch pad all f a sudden stopped working. I need assistance as to how I can fix this and prevent it from happening again

Hi Friend, In this case I would recommend you to please connect any external mouse on the system and check if it is working
If it is then I would recommend you to please update the touch pad drivers for the system from the below link:
But please make sure to select the Operating system that you are using on the system, the above link is with the Windows Vista, so, I request you to please select the Operating system first and then from the list of options that are below select the option which says "Input Device Drivers",
You will an an option of Dell pointing stick, download it, run it and then restart the system and then check if the touch pad starts working or not..

Please let me know if it was of any help Thank you.

I want to deactivate my touch pad on my dell inspiron 1525 laptop. Please advise how

If you do not see a Touchpad icon in your systray(lower right), go to:

Start/Control Panel/System

On the left choose "Device Manager".

Select "Mice and other pointing devices" and highlight "Dell Touchpad"

Either right click and "Uninstall" or click the uninstall icon at the top.

Restart your machine and it will automatically update the driver from Dell which will put the Touchpad icon back in the system tray.

Click on this icon and go to "Device Select"

Check the "Disable Touchpad/Pointing stick when external USB mouse id present.

On my dell latitude D630 laptop the mouse pad settings will not save if i do restart the computer, the settings will work fine until i do restart the computer and then when i do restart the mouse setting...

may be you just press esc button or cancel button after making the settings. or this might be a problem in windows. In case of windows u will have to reinstall it but i would recommend u to check for other mouse ,if this also has same problem then u better again install windows
