SOURCE: I ran it out of

from time to time water contamination is in the tank and when you run the machine out of fuel the pump picks that water up and now it is sitting in the bottom of the carbs. drain the carburetor bowls and disconnect the fuel line from the carbs and run fuel out for a few squirts,, re attach the hoses and then try and start it. ( 9 times out of 10 this will fix the problem ). also -- check and clean the plugs as they might be wet and fouled from the water.

SOURCE: I have a 2001 MXZ

Hello Ron.
In order for the high idle to take place it needs air (oxygen).
This air must be getting in somewhere.
Make sure the throttle cable has some play. If it's too tight it will hold the throttle open.
If you are sure the slides are set up properly (not staying open), you will need to find the source of that air.
Make sure the rubber grommets behind the carbs are not cracked and are properly clamped.
If there is nothing obvious you may have bad crankshaft seals. If the crank seals are bad it will allow air to enter the crankcase. In a 2 stroke that is where the air/fuel mixture is pulled into the engine.
If indeed this is where the air is coming from, the engine will need to be removed, the crankcase split, and the seals changed.
I hope you will not need to do this. But don't run it until you know for sure as this extra air is not mixed with oil and you could damage the engine.
Let me know if you need more advise concerning this problem.
Thank you for using FixYa.

How is the belt? If belt is wore it will tach more. Maybe your driven pulley is not expanding properly, which lets the belt fall down into it changing gear ratio.

There is an Electrical Connector on the back of the hood, I would check to make sure it is plugged in ALL THE WAY. It sounds like you have a broken/melted wire or the plug is loose.

Ski-doo won't stay running or idle

sounds like it could be the air to fuel ratio. if it only want to run with the choke on. I would say to make sure all your nuts and bolts are tight and that you check the gaskets in between the carb and the motor. another thing you could do is get a can of starting fluid and spray it around the carb while the motor is running (do not spray it in the carb)if the idle changes or if it dies you need to replace gaskets.

2002 gti sea doo wont turn over on the first try

if you have one of the kill cords that is round and it snaps onto a round button that has a silver dot in the center that when the kill lanyard is snapped into place makes a connection to the silver part inside of the kill lanyard itself. most the time its because it is still verifying that it is the right key. they are programed to match you CDI box/ignition module of your ski. this prevents theft. if you clean both the key and the button the key connects to with some rubbing alcohol to insure a good clean connection will most likely solve the problem. when you put the key on the ski you should hear a beep then wait 5 to 10 seconds before hitting the start stop button . that gives the ski time to recognize the key is in fact the correct key to the ski.. hope this helps
