How to Degauss

Hello,

LCD flat panel monitors do not have or need a degauss function. The older CRT monitors had the degauss button to remove any magnetism that built up in the metal frame that would cause distortion. LCD monitors do not rely on magnetic fields so no degauss button. If your display is showing strange patterns and text the most likely cause is a bad video card. First try a different monitor on your card. I would bet the display is bad on it too. It you find this problem just replace your video card and the issue should go away.

How do you connect LG W2261 VP Monitor to HP Pavilion 6310uk Desktop

The computer has VGA, DVI-I (dual link) and HDMI ports. The monitor has VGA, DVI and HDMI but only came with a VGA cable. Some computers have recently come with shielding covering all of the ports except the one that is currently live. Thus, check your hardware; the computers I've seen with only one active port, the HDMI port was active before resetting the video options. So get an HDMI cable (it will provide the best signal in addition). If the DVI-I port is currently live, you should get that cable as well and then change the settings to enable the HDMI port.

I hope this helps.

(you do not need to get the super-expensive cables; the low end ones will be fine. However a single link DVI cable is not the same as a dual link cable; sometimes using the wrong cable leads to no signal to the monitor.)

LG W2261VP-PF blacking out & controls don't work

Reset your computer to 800-by-600 video-resolution, at 60 Hertz, and see if your LCD monitor is compatible with these settings. If so, try 1024-by-768, and other "high-resolution" settings.

LG monitor, Win7 and windows resizing on power cycle

Well you see this is a function of how this, any, monitor work, you see after coming back, from "Being Asleep" it does NOT hold, the last settings onboard, thus when it awakes, it must "Ask" the PC, what resolution do you want me to display in?... Then when it receives an answer, it THEN switches to that resolution. It is not anything you have done nor a setting...just a function, of the PC & Software and HDMI standards. What you need to do is create Profiles, for the Monitor, this will help. You didn't say exactly what your Video card is? If it is ATI. then make a profile using Catalyst Control Center. This way you can command programs to open at a particular size etc. With NVIDIA use the Control Panel. There are other tools as well like Powerstrip, this gives almost complete control over every aspect ot card and monitor and allows multiple profiles. link below. www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm -

I want to remove the rear cover of the lg flatron w2261v monitor

simcraft's link was great ! It has pictures showing the dismantling procedure, but the document is in Chinese and so is the web site where it is located. Please remember that some internal components can retain a dangerous charge of electricity for a few minutes after disconnection from the ac outlet. Wait at least 5 minutes before attempting the disassembly. Try to find the service manual for any other LG LCD in your language and read the safety procedures - they are pretty much the same for all models.

Optimal resolution problem, edge of desktop outside screen

Your screen probably wont recognise the dvi cable if the dsub is plugged in, you will have to use the buttons on the monitor to adjust the settings to dvi rather than it automatically using the dsub. also, ever tried adjusting the aspect ratio? to make it shrink abit to fit your screen.

Power saving mode

Prevent the laptop/desktop monitor from going to power saving mode:

  • Click on Start | Control Panel | Power Options.
  • In the Power Option properties window, click on the Power Schemes Tab
  • Set the Turn off Monitor/ Turn off Hard Disks option when on Power (and also Battery for laptop users) to Never.
  • Now click on the Save as... button and assign a name to this power scheme... Let us call it 'Presentation' and then click on OK.
  • That's it congrats!

Monitor automatically clicks into power saving mode

I have an LG W2261V, and an old Sharp LL-T19D1-H. The PC runs both just fine, and the PSU has plenty of power. Unfortunately the LG handles power save mode very differently, where the LG would not switch on after entering this mode unless reset (unplugged, PC rebooted, etc). Extremely frustrating, as the old Sharp never had any problems exiting its own power save mode. The LG would enter this mode based on the monitor power settings (in whatever power scheme you are using) in the screensaver tab in display properties. I fixed this by selecting "Never" for "the Turn off monitor" property. I guess this is a warning to those who may wish to buy a new LG monitor, but want to use a power scheme to turn off the monitor.
