Keep pressing the power on button until you hear a "bip", that should reset your ps3 configurations and then it apears on your tv screen.

How to connect to tv

There are several ways to connect a game console to a TV. The question is, what system are you trying to connect? Some features may be available for the newer generations, that are not on older models. I'm assuming, since you have posted with a picture of a Sony Playstation 3, (PS3) that is the system you are trying to connect. The easiest way to install is to use the supplied (RCA) connection cords that comes with every PS3 system. One side connects to the corresponding port in the back of the system, and the other end has (3) multicolor plugs. They will match the colors on most TV's. Some of the older TV's do not have the RCA ports and will require an adapter to connect this way. These colors are; YELLOW (video out) RED (audio out right channel) and WHITE (audio out left channel or MONO) The PS3 also has and HDMI port, and is much simpler to connect the TV and game console together. As I stated before, not all TV's are equipped with HDMI. HDMI cables carry both the video and the sound through 1 cable. To install this way, simply turn on your TV to the correct aux port, in this case HDMI, then connect the the HDMI cable from the PS3 to an available port on the TV. After you have connected the cords, turn the system on and it will tell you that it has "Detected an HDMI connection. Would you like to use this connection?" Select yes. The rest is automatic.
Also, if you didn't know and are needing a new rca cord to connect to the TV, search for a cord from one of the older systems in the SONY family and they will save you some cash, as they are all exactly the same. PS1, PS2, and PS3 all use the same connection. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I have my ps3 plugged in but powered off so just a red light is on.i push power button light turns green I hear fan come on and everything sounds normal but it has no picture at all.it takes cd no pro

Rudy, are you connecting to the TV with HDMI, or RCA cords? HDMI carries both picture and sound thru 1 cord, whereas RCA splits it to YELLOW RED and WHITE. The HDMI connection is automatically detected when connected to your TV. It will say"HDMI is detected, do you want to use these settings?" RCA is not automatic, and is prone for the video(YELLOW) cord to develope a bad connection. I wouls duggest first replacing the cord. They are inexpencive, and the fastest way to check your issue. I am going to include a link to a youtube video that will guide you through the steps on how to reset your video settings on your system.

When I turn my ps3 on I get no video on my tv and I just bought the wire so its not the wire... How can I fix this?

Obviously, first make sure the PS3 and television/projector are actually on. Then confirm the television actually works, and that the port you're connecting to on the TV works (connect another console, for example).

You should then make sure all cords are firmly attached to the PS3 and you television.

If the cables are snugly in place and you still have the issue, you should make sure the PS3 is outputting the correct video. To do this, power off your system, then press the power button to turn it on, but keep it held down for a couple of seconds (around 5 seconds I believe). It should beep and your video settings will be reset.

Still nothing? Make sure the cables are working. Swap them out with cables you know that work, or test the cables in question on something else (another PS3 or old PS2 for the regular cable, anything that has HDMI out for the HDMI cable). I know you said it's not the wire but you should confirm it because the next solutions are kind of a last resort...

You might have to send it in to Sony, which can be done here. They take forever to send it back though, and if you're out of warranty it costs $150 (it's free if you're under warranty though!).

Alternatively, if you're awesome and feeling adventurous, you can fix it yourself. Here's a guide, and more can be found online.

Regardless, hope everything works out!

I recently moved house and have connected my ps3 80gb to a TV not previously used to connect the ps3 to. When I switch on the ps3 all I get apart from the Sony log on tune is multi coloured vertical wavy...

It sounds like the PS3 is sending a signal that the television isn't 100% compatible with. I'd start by plugging the PS3 in using standard RCA jacks, and making sure that the video and audio configuration settings are all set to automatic. Then, plug back in using the HD cords that you have, and the PS3 should reconfigure its signal output to match what the TV can handle.

Iam not able to get a picture from my hdmi cable, but can still here sound. tried three different hdmi cables... please can you help...

1. Your Connections Are Faulty

Quite often, the cause of the no picture problem is a simple one - loose cords. Make sure that the cords are plugged in tightly, both on the TV side and the PS3 side. This is especially true with the HDMI cable connection on the PS3. Often, it looks tight, but you still might need to wiggle it a bit more to seat it correctly. Along the same lines, make sure that the cords you are using are new and match the connections properly on both the TV and your console.

2. Wrong Connection Settings

If you are using the HDMI/DVI cables and you don't get any picture, make sure to check your video ouput settings. If your PS3 thinks you are using standard A/V cords to connect to the set, you'll have issues. The opposite is true too - if you are using the A/V cords and your PS3 thinks otherwise, you'll have the same no picture problem. Make sure you settings match the types of cable connectors you are using.

3. Wrong Resolution Setting

This is also an easy mistake to make that can result in no picture showing on your television screen. For example, if you've been using your PS3 with an HDTV and then try to hook it up to a standard definition television set, you'll encounter this issue. The cure is simple; just go into your settings and switch back to standard resolution and then restart your system. The 720p resolution is the default setting and this should work for most standard definition televisions.

Need Help

try connecting A/V rca cable first. go to ur diplay settings and then to video output settings in it select av multi. don't use HDMI settings let it automatically ask u when u plug in hdmi cable. Then switch to HDMI cable. I had a problem like this before with a ps3 that i had bought used. hdmi was set up and it took forever to set it up with rca cords. took many times power on and offs and unplugging video cords for it to reset. . not sure. Now when u plug in your hdmi on any tv it should automatically set up. and you have settings for a/v as backup. the other thing is it could be the just the port or cable.

Just use the regular AV cords. They are 480i using an HDMI to this and that isn't going to improve picture quality.

I THINK YOU NEED TO BUY NEW RCA JACKS,, BECAUSE IF THE ELECTRICAL FUSE WENT FROMT HE TV TO RCA JACKS THEN ALL THE CORDS THAT PLUGS TO THE PS2 ARE SHORTED OUT.
