Question about Internet & Communication Software

1 Answer

Unable to update my protection after uploading new 2009 Micro Trend Internet Security package using a 64-bit operating system. Error message advises to check my proxy settings. I've done that. System is set for automatic import of this info, however, I went ahead and entered the IP address, etc.. but still no success. The system is even set to revert to the old settings if there is a glitch with an update. Evidently, that command isn't working either. I don't know what to do next.

The company selling ths micro trend security must be held reponsible for selling us defective, and must return our money.

Can you disable the proxy all together to get a direct connection to the internet?

Perhaps you are behind a firewall that blocks the specific ports that the program needs. Maybe you need to use port forwarding on your router in order to connect.

Sorry about all the maybes, im not 100% familiar with the program.

This is the resolution i got from trend micro regarding this error. it worked for me, so i thought i should share: I have reviewed your case and I understand that you are getting an error message that says “Unable To Update Your Protection” when updating the Trend Micro Consumer Product. With regard to your concern, this problem happens if there’s a missing component in your computer’s Registry. Let us configure the registry of your computer using the Registry Editor of Windows. Windows Vista: Type regedit on the Start Search above the Windows Orb button then press Enter key on your keyboard. And the Registry Editor window will appear. 3. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. 4. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides SOFTWARE. 5. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides CurrentVersion. 8. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides Explorer. 9. Click on the Shell Folders. 10. Look for the Common Appdata entry on the right panel. If there’s a Common Appdata entry on the list: - Double click on the Common Appdata entry and the Edit String window will appear. - Windows XP: Type C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data on the text field under Value Data. Windows Vista: Type c:\ProgramData on the text field under Value Data. - Click on the OK button. If there’s no Common Appdata entry on the list: - Right click on an empty space and options will appear. - Click on New and options will appear. - Click on the String Value option. - Set the name to Common Appdata. - Double click on the Common Appdata entry and the Edit String window will appear. - Windows XP: Type C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data on the text field under Value Data. Personally, I would uninstall Trend - I had the same problem. I'd get my money back as well. I didn't bother to find out why because it was a hassle going through all kinds of do this and do that processes - the heck with that. If programmers did their job correctly, it should work. But unfortunately they are more concerned about job security than doing a good job.

Is your system running 64-bit or 32-bit? To find this out, press "start", right click on "computer", then click "properties". There it will specify your "system type" (64-bit or 32-bit). There is no Flash Player for 64-bit Web Browswers available yet. If your computer is running 64-bit, you should try using the 32-bit Internet Explorer (can be found in your list of programs in the start menu).

Hi, I have MCEBrowser (Version: 2.2) product. Could you please provide me information whether it is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 operating system. Thanks in advance.

Windows 7 operating systems is an improved system with networing improvement compartibilities. The internet browser is only compartibe with google, mozziler foxpro, firefox browsers and the latest update of google Chrome browser. Microsoft internet explorer is incompartible with Windows 7 operating system. e.g. The compartibilty is with the computer operating system, windoms 2000, mellannium, xp and vista operating systems should display internet explorer. Windows 7 32-bit a lower versions design or 64-bit an remodified version are incompartible to Internet explorer

Unable to recognize software configuration....this

There is a cheap, FREE alternative you may consider.

A FREE AND POWERFUL ANTIVIRUS

There's a few to choose from, but my pick is AVAST. You need to register for it, but it is totally free and no ads or banners. Auto-updates and option to upgrade to a paid version, but most find this unnecessary.

There is also Comodo Suite which has an optional super strong commercial strength Firewall, but somewhat annoying. The Antivirus gets better by the day and is now a top contender.

AVIRA is not to seedy either. Rated in the Top 3 Freeware.

Just remember to disable or uninstall the other antivirus after installation. If you opt for a free firewall, make sure you disable your current one.

These ratings change regularly as software is improved and contenders get more serious.

Another free security program that may compliment these is Superantispyware. It is currently rated #1 in the freeware list and also rivals some top of the line commercial spyware protectors.

Hope this is of some use.

Uninstall first your trend micro then reinstall it again. Most likely you may have gotten a corruption on the software itself.

McAfee not updating

Some files might have been corrupted somehow.

As per the error, you need to uninstall Mcafee and then reboot the computer. Then once your windows boots back, re-install Mcafee from the CD you purchased. That should solve any corruption problems.

Need help uninstalling?  Click Start -> Run, then type appwiz.cpl and press enter. You will get the Add/Remove programs. Go down and select Mcafee Total Security and click on remove and follow the simple instructions on the screen.
