Question about RCA DRC8300N DVD Recorder/VCR

1 Answer

Unit will not record DVD's

My RCA DVD Recorder/VCR Combo, Model DRC8310ND, will not record on DVD's. I'm using the correct disc, but it will not record. It does fine on the VCR. At times, it will not play DVD's, but it will always play CD's. When attempting to record a DVD there is a message of "dirty tape" or "incorrect format' appears. "Clean disc and retry" is the rest of the message. I have had this new unit about 2 years, but never recorded DVD's on it, but when I tried 2 days ago, this was the response. What could possibly be wrong with this unit? These messages are not addressed in the user's guide. Please help.

Re v5500 . . . can i copy a movie from the vcr onto a dvd with this model???

You cannot transfer VHS to DVD on this model unit by itself. You can, however, connect the AV outputs of this unit (as a VCR) to the respective AV inputs of a separate DVD recorder - using yellow-white-red RCA cables - as long as the source tapes are not copy protected, and the appropriate disc formats for the DVD recorder are used.

I need a manual for this product. Any chance I can download one? RCA DRC8300N DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

I see RCA no longer has any manuals for that unit. But, is this the exact model number? I mean like I have an RCA DRC8335 VCR/DVD recorder, so I am wondering if it is similar? If so I could work out something for you. Email me at jmsekola@citizens-tel.net if you think I can help with my manual.

Recording from vhs to dvd

As long as you've got the DVD recorder set to the correct "channel" I can't see why it won't work. Why don't you just try it out on a DVD-RW first ? Use RCA cables from the VCR "OUT",  to the DVD recorders "IN" sockets and you'll be okay. If for some unknown reason it doesn't copy you haven't used a good disc. Probably won't copy anything with Macrovision(or other copy protection) though.

Model DRC 8310 RCA VCR/DVD player/recorder combo.

Did you put a splitter onto the cable signal? If yes, the signal is attenuated to much and there simply isn't enough signal for the recorder to decode. Call your cable company and request a signal amplifier be placed on your line. It's usually free.
