SOURCE: Record player sounds scratchy and tinny

Hi,
with all due respect these things are not gonna sound great. You do not get a full range clarity deep warm sound with a 2" speaker driver enclosed in fiber board. Not to mention going into the realms of tone arms and the stylus. These are china bulk built rubbish IMO.
The crackling, yes you can try a cleaner, but no mater how hard you try, the tone arm is way too light which is why it will sound crackly and distorted. Of course the condition of the vinyl record itself will play a major part too.
Honestly, do yourself a favour and get some seperated (amp, turntable, pair of floor standing speakers) then come back and visit :-)

SOURCE: I just ordered a new

Hi there,
You're right to want to do this with care.
Put the arm on to it's rest and lock it on with the arm lock.
Delicately, yet firmly (if that makes sense), use you thumb and forefinger to hold the headshell (to prevent stress to it or the arm)
With the other hand, use the thumb and forefinger to pull the stylus (the whole of the red bit) towards you.
If it is the original factory fit, it can feel like its glued on, but it is not. If this is the case, try lightly wiggling the stylus from left to right as you pull it towards you.

I have an electro brand 9249 record player. How do I remove the needle and where do I get a new needle

Hello
The needle and cartridge can be bought from most of the standard electronic sparepart selleing shops at your town. It will be best to replace the cartridge along with needle. Cartridge will have a number printed on it, should be noted. OK.

I OWN A 9208 ELECTRA BRAND UNIT AND THE TURNTABLE IS GOING TO FAST IN ALL THREE SPEEDS. WHAT CAN I DO?? LINDA

sounds like there could be something stuck on the belt drive pulley on the motor. If there's too much gunk it will run faster. Has it always run too fast?

the tone arm need adjustment by a techician or you could try a new needle.

When testing use a record that is in good condition but not one you like.

Record player sounds scratchy and tinny

Playing records is a contact sport.

Since the needle touches the record -- as opposed to a laser reading a CD -- any bit of dust or mold translates to annoying pops and hisses.

Record cleaners get down into the record grooves to extract dust and particles.

Or you may need a new needle.
