Just because you have an anti virus doesn't mean you cannot get a virus.... the best thing to do at this point is to perform a repair on windows...Here is a walk through or simply bring it in to your local computer shop....

it does require a cd.... but you don't format your drive. If you have a COA i would just use a bit torrent such as utorrent and a torrent site such as isohunt.com and download one

Emachine el1331g-01w wont boot past windows it gets to the windows and reboots

instead of pressing F12, use F8, (pressing repeatedly,) you should see the Advanced Boot Options Menu. Select one of the "Safe Mode..." optiions.

if you get to the desktop, then restart the PC and see if it boots normally. if it does, great. Back-up your data.

If it does not, then power-down the PC. Disconnect the Power cord and all other cables excepting the keyboard and the mouse (unless using wireless ones.)

power up the the PC and see if it boots normally. if it does, then likely there is a Device Driver conflict going-on. You will need to power-off and connect your devices one at a time and power-on to find out which of them needs to be updated....or if you have current Drivers, then un-install and re-install the device Drivers.

Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
As the computer is booting repeatadly press the F8 key as the computer is booting If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. select safe mode with command prompt Then type at the C:\> prompt: type

DEBUG

and hit Enter. You'll see a dash (-) at the DEBUG prompt. Now type:

o 70 2e

which will show as -o 70 2e at the DEBUG prompt. Hit Enter. Then type:

o 71 ff

and hit Enter. Finally type:

Quit

and hit Enter one last time to quit DEBUG back to the C:\> prompt.
Now you're ready to reboot your PC, and press the appropriate key or key
combo (look it up in your motherboard manual if you don't know it) to access
your BIOS Setup. Youll notice the password is gone. If this fails try typing At command prompt type debug
you will get a - prompt where you can type the following (<enter> means press enter, not type enter*)

Please see the enclosed read me if you would like to run it from Windows. Failure to follow instructions (from Windows) will cause your anti-virus to flag this as a virus. Hope this helps.

Can't factory restore dell inspiron 531 (windows xp).

You might want to try going into setup and setting your boot drive options to DVD drive as your 1st, HD as 2nd and Floppy as 3rd. Put your windows disk in the DVD before boot and run the program from DVD.

Boot with F8, choose "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" and follow:

to access System Restore via Safe Mode to choose an image of your system at an earlier (and safer) time. Good luck.

Hi from london, have new acer aspire 1 zg5 new keeps shutting down after boot can u hlp pls?

Try booting the system to Safe mode.

To boot to safe mode:
Restart the computer. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, keep tapping on F8 key on your keyboard. When the Windows Options menu appears select the "Safe mode" then press Enter.

Once you managed to boot to Safe mode, change the computer startup and recovery settings by right-clicking "My Computer" then select Properties. Select Advanced tab. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings. Uncheck the box for "Automatically restart" under System Failure.

Reboot again normally, see if it will reboot again by itself. If you managed to make the system boot normally, proceed to Events Viewer to find out what is the caused.

If the system failed to boot normally after doing the above, you might want to boot the system to "Last known good configuration"

Computer keeps rebooting.

Hi there, maybe I can help.
As your computer boots hit F8, go to the startup menu and disable "automatic restart on system failure". Boot up and make not of any error messages.

Let me know if this helps
