Question about Dell Inspiron B130 Pentium M 1.7ghz Centrino DVDRW 60gbInsprion B130 PC Notebook
I turn on the laptop and get the lights that are near the top of the keyboard come on and then go off. The on light, hard drive and the battery light come on and stay on. The screen is black. The dvd drawer will not open when I push the button and no light either. So I'm thinking that the dvd drive is not getting power. Maybe the compute is not getting power except for the lights that are coming on. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thank you for your help in advance.
Try to remove the battery, turn the wifi switch off just connect it to the power socket and try to turn it on again, if this does not work, I think you need to take it to pc hospital

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron B130 wont boot
First remove the battery from the PC! Leave it off for a short period of time! about 2min. This allows the computer to erase anything in temporary memory. Place the battery back onto th PC and try to boot it up. The other thing you can do is boot the pc up with just the power cord in place. See if it boots just from the power cord. Sometime the batteries from dell causes the whole entire PC to become unresponsive.

There is a small board that the power button is integrated into that connects to the motherboard. When this power board malfunctions it will cause this issue with the machine. It can, and quite often does, damage the motherboard when it malfinctions. You should take the machine in for a power board replacement and a diagnostic to make sure that the power board hasn't damaged the motherboard.

do you have the dell diagnostic CD??
if you have it may help you to figure what is wrong??
here is th link to the troubleshooting steps.
I suspect the hard drive may be on its way out. unfortunately you can't see the screen.

Your laptop either goes to hibernate or sleep mode when you close the lid. Then, when you open the lid up, the screen is still off because your pc already hanged/froze and could not wake up at all (usual problem in vista). Off course, hard shutdown would fix it. But actual fix is under power options on your control panel. Check your current scheme and edit it. There are options there that you can select to "do nothing when closing the lid"
Hope this helps

Insert the original Windows CD-ROM into the DVD-drive, and see if the computer will "boot" from that disk. If so, then it could be your 'C:' drive which is having the problem, and thus not "booting" your computer from it.
