I have a toro 20018. The bracket that holds the wire from the starter and battery has a cable that pulls the switch together at the bottom and off the kill switch at the top --- it has completely...

Bypassing probably isn't a good option as far as the kill switch is concerned because it is an important safety feature you want to always have. I'm not sure if you are in need of the bracket or the cable. Parts are available, finding them is the usual problem. OK

The cable can be found here. There are 2 listed. One is the traction (drive) and the other is brake (kill switch).

The bracket is possibly listed here as part number 6. It is listed as the mount for the switch. Your mower has different serial numbers and about 3 versions of diagrams are listed. This vendor has very good diagrams that include yours. Here is the diagram of the switch bracket with the starter assembly. If this isn't what you need, click on the menu tab above the diagram to view another location on the mower.

How do you replace a drive cable on a toro recycler 6.5 hp.

Its a bit of a pain - but with ordinary tools, it can be done. Get the replacement cable first. You can see how the bottom spring wraps around the cable with a universal joint sort of arrangement. Remove the belt protector (three screws from the top deck; if you have a battery compartment, that will temporarily need to go. Release the old cable from the top and middle attachment points, then unhook the spring from the traction lever. You might need to destroy the old cable lock to the mower deck to remove the old cable. Remove the plastic cup next to the cable where it exits the mower deck. Replace parts in this order: New spring/cable to the traction lever, snap in plastic interface to mower deck, small plastic cup top cable attachment, then middle attachment. You might need to move the middle attachment after you give it a test run. Replace belt cover and battery compartment if necessary. A lot of steps but, except for a difficult fit to get the spring hooked up, nothing is really difficult. I paid about $30 for the replacement cable from a local dealer; Overpriced, but I wanted to get the job done today.

Broken selfpropell cable. Need to replace

To replace the cable you would have to go to a Toro dealer and purchase tjhe cable I don't know of another way to get the right cable. themn Remove old one and install the new one. There are some universal cables out ther but they can be tricky to adapt to some mowers.

Replace the cable traction (part #105-1844)

I just replaced mine and it was a little difficult and took me roughly an hour to do. First, download the walk behind power mover drive systems at https://homeownersolutions.toro.com/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&cached=true&parentname=CommunityPage&parentid=1&in_hi_userid=30166&control=SetCommunity&CommunityID=225&PageID=30031#manualsResultPage

While they do not specifically address replacing the cable, you can find out how they do it when replacing the drive belt. As I said, it took me about an hour and I just about had to remove the transmission and rear drive assembly in order to unhook the original cable. Good luck!

Traction cable

The black cover on the front of the mower is held on by 2 screws from underneth, remove the cover and that will give you acess to where the cable connects to.then you can use a pair of pliers to squeeze the end of the cable to disconnect it from it's mounting hole.
