How is the traction cable adjusted on Toro Model 20027, Serial # 20005663. I'm replacing the cable and the new one is slightly different from the old one, but the Toro shop tells me it's the proper...

There is a large black plastic nut at the end where the cable attaches to the mower transmission. Turning it clockwise tightens the cable (engaging traction bar is tighter) and counter-clockwise is loosening the drive. If the cable is a little too long, you have to tighten it more.

How do you replace a drive cable on a toro recycler 6.5 hp.

Its a bit of a pain - but with ordinary tools, it can be done. Get the replacement cable first. You can see how the bottom spring wraps around the cable with a universal joint sort of arrangement. Remove the belt protector (three screws from the top deck; if you have a battery compartment, that will temporarily need to go. Release the old cable from the top and middle attachment points, then unhook the spring from the traction lever. You might need to destroy the old cable lock to the mower deck to remove the old cable. Remove the plastic cup next to the cable where it exits the mower deck. Replace parts in this order: New spring/cable to the traction lever, snap in plastic interface to mower deck, small plastic cup top cable attachment, then middle attachment. You might need to move the middle attachment after you give it a test run. Replace belt cover and battery compartment if necessary. A lot of steps but, except for a difficult fit to get the spring hooked up, nothing is really difficult. I paid about $30 for the replacement cable from a local dealer; Overpriced, but I wanted to get the job done today.

Can a traction clutch cable on an Ariens 520 be repaired/replaced as a do it yourself? IF so, how do you repair it?

Yes, it can be replaced. Normally, cables are attached to the handles and then to the engagement bar for traction near the belts. You may need to tip the unit on it's nose to remove access panel to expose mechanisms. Also the inspection cover over the belts in front of the engine may help identify the cable routing

1996 oldsmobile lose power atfer it reach 25mph the low traction

Per your description, it sounds as though there may be a wheel speed sensor problem or a tire that is low on air pressure.
The traction control system on your vehicle relies on four wheel speeds to determine if the vehicle is in a skid or not. If the traction control system sees one of the wheel speeds lower or higher than the rest, it thinks your in a spin or skid and will reduce power to compensate and straighten the vehicle.
So, first thing to do is check all four tires and make sure they are at the same inflation rate some where between 28 and 32 lbs.
Next, disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes, this will clear the module and let you start fresh.
Try that first before any parts are replaced.
Good luck and let me know.
