Question about HP Pavilion Computers & Internet
Win xp pro sp3, updated bios (to F.2E) as recommended by HP support site (no obvious problems w/ update - no power problems, backup of old bios, sufficient time, etc), now windows will not load in any mode. Booting from a cd I can test the HD (w/ spinrite) but win setup boot disk finds no HD. Tried draining all power & rebooting; tried Bios setup utility choice of "load setup defaults". Now I'm looking for some jumpers on the MB to reset BIOS?

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

have you tried a bios reset instead?try a full reset by getting out the battery and by switching the jumper (all this disconected from the power)-do this with the ramm dims out of the slots also.sometimes this use.
try also to replace the battery and after that rewrite the bos by doing this from a bootable cd under dos mode.DO NOT use the aplication to flash or to update the bios under windows.
this might damage the bios.
check also the integrity of the bios hard component on your mainboard(look for scraches,signes of colizion)
check the bios data..you may have something wrong set
inform me of your doing..bye

You can try to save the motherboard w/ a floppy, and if that doesn't work, go to gigabyte's website and request for an RMA. I made the same mistake in trying to update the BIOS through @BIOS after it updated, it assked for me to restart the pc, and when i did, the was nothing. All i heard were the fans. Nothing on the screen, and it obviously wasn't posting. So go to Gigabyte so you can get another one, and tell them there's a flaw w/ the application @BIOS. If by any chance you update the BIOS, try it w/ a flash drive under DOS. Good luck.

Hi terry304, your current trouble is within windows not your motherboard. If you want to repair your windows than go to the link below & read the Microsoft page. They have a program that can help repair your window. See the link provided;
(Though you'll do most of the work).
Here are a few replacement boards for your socket 939 CPU & MB;
Personally, I do not buy from EBay when it comes to MB's. The risk is too high. I also run a socket 939.
Good luck Terry!
Thank you for using fixya.
