Question about Sony SLV-N750 VHS/S-VHS playback VCR

1 Answer

Remote ineffective. Even with fresh, tested batteries, the remote will not control any of the vcr functions, although the vcr can be operated (except for programming, of couse) directly with the controls on the vcr. Both an RCA and a Panasonic universal remote were tried without soccess. In other words, it appears that either the vcr is not sending the signals or the vcr sensor is not properly picking them up.

OK, I have this same problem, but you can make it work by opening the battery compartment and moving one of the 2 batteries out and re-inserting it. It's time consuming and irritating, but this is how I get mine to work. I'm currently looking for a replacement, but I fear there may not be any. Nice product Sony! It's been this way since I bought the product.

If you have a video camera with a night vision setting, wait until dark, turn out the lights and turn the camera onto night vision and look the the remote. When you press the buttons on the remote does the small led transmitter on the front ligh up. If so the remote is working but possibly sending the incorrect signals.

My Sony VCR Model SLV-662HF will not accept cassettes. I am using a universal remote control. The VCR's display shows APC 71501 and 81508. Do these APC codes refer to the VCR or the All In One universal...

The codes are to program the universal remote control to communicate with the Sony VCR. Try programming the universal remote using one of these: 60000 60032 60033 60035
The acceptance of the cassettes may not be related to the use of a universal remote control. If the URC doesn't have the "equivalent" functionality of the VCR's original remote control, you may not be able to use the URC to perform the functions of the original remote control.

Panasonic remote does not work

First check that the battery contacts on the unit are clean and can make a good contact with those batteries. If that doesn't solve the problem, maybe it's not the remote? VCR's have a remote sensor, these can and do go faulty. The only way to be certain is to buy a cheap universal remote. If that can switch it on the your Panasonic remote is faulty. If it can't the remote sensor is faulty.

Yes the VCR remote sensor is faulty. It will most likely be the IC, which can be found by tracing the wiring from the detector on the front of the vcr.

Remote operation ( remote will not activate vcr )

Sounds dumb, but had the same problem. I removed the batteries and double-checked that I had placed them in their respective slots correctly. If in doubt, use a completely NEW set of bats. Use the best bats you can afford. Also make sure you are pointing/aiming at the VCR sensor straight on; possibly the front of your VCR case is dusty/dirty? Just lightly dust off. No detergents. Good luck.
