Are you still using the same computer that was set to 200Hz? If so, start Windoze in safe mode and reset the display properties to 1024 x 768 60Hz. Reboot the computer and everything should be OK.

Does this model use an external ac adapter or an internal power supply? Twice I have seen a white screen caused by bad capacitors in the power supply. They may look good, but you should replace them anyway. Look in the 2ndary circuit of the power supply, you should see some capacitors that are (for example) 220uF 16 to 25V, 470uF 16 to 25V, 1000 uF 16 to 25V (all those capacitors could be 16V or 25V). Replace them and try the monitor again.
If it uses an ac adapter, try a different 12V adapter. Make sure it has the same or higher amperage rating. If you can't find one, you will have to measure the power going onto the board inside the unit while the adapter is plugged in and the monitor turned on. If it is less than 12V you need a new adapter.
If none of this helps, the panel or main board may be damaged. In most cases these two parts cannot be repaired.

My monitor screen stays on at start up for a few seconds, then turn completley white. Ive tried restarting, shutting down, changing monitors. Whats wrong?

If it happens with multiple monitors, maybe it's not the monitor that's the problem: your graphics card might be dead, and that's why it turns white.

What flatscreen monitor is OK to substitute for sanpo alphascan 520?

Hi. Almost all the crt type monitors should work, it's flat screen monitors that seem to give computers problems with aspect ratios, and resolution settings.

I personally use an NEC AccuSync 70.
It might not be the newest monitor in the world, but the colors are crisp, clear, and bright.
And It allows a setting of 1024x768@85 hz refresh rate, which works great for my games.

As far as flat screens, I would probably go with an Acer, or a Dell monitor, as these two companies seem to have better quality from their monitors than most other manufacturers.

I hope this helps you out!

What does it mean when i turn my laptop on the screen is white.

I can't tell you what it means but it happened to my laptop this morning.
After reading tons of "solutions" nothing worked. Finally, I turned it off, went grocery shopping for a couple of hours and when I came home and turned it back on and it seems to be fine.
I am, however, going to make a recovery disk like the computer has been suggesting since I got it.

Refresh rate for this monitor. Prefs. offer 60 or

Go for the highest your video card will allow to remove any flicker from the screen, or the max whichever works best.

I also have a Viewsonic Flatscreen, they are great and I had two Viewsonic CRTs before that.

Backlit problem with ViewSonic VE150m (Beige)

I had a problem with one of my viewsonics, and called their tech support, they gave me an RMA number once I explained a similar problem to them and fixed it for free. It sounds like it needs a power board, but if you call Viewsonic they will fix it for you for free. They may ask for you to pay the shipping one way, unless it's under a year old or more with extended warantee, they will take care of you, don't mess with it yourself, unless you are a tech yourself, once you start taking it apart that is the end of your service warantee with them, thanks

I had the same problem.

Just fixed it.

Check the cable on the back of the monitor.
Make sure it is plugged in properly.

Wiggle it a bit, and the ghosting dissappears.

Don't tighten the cable to the PC too much.

My computer screen is white

Here are the things I would try:

First, if you have another monitor I would plug it in to see if the problem is actually your monitor or something else. If you don't have access to another monitor then I would try to reset the monitor to factory defaults. I know this will not be easy because you cannot see the screen, but I looked at the manual and I believe this is how to do it:

Press the "1" button on the monitor, then press the downward arrow 6 times, then press the "2" button. I think this will reset the monitor. Take a look at the manual:

http://www.viewsonic.com/pdf/userguides/ve150m-1_ve150mb-1_ug_eng.pdf

And you'll see what I mean.

If that does not work, I would double check your cable connections (you have probably already done that). I woud then use Device Manager to make sure there's no known problem with your video adapter. To use Device Manager do this:

Right click on My Computer and select properties. Now select the Hardware tab and then click on Device Manager. Find the entry for your display adapter and verify there are not exclamation points or question marks next to it. If there are, let me know and we'll go a different route.

If the above does not pan out I would reboot the computer in Safe Mode to see what happens. Safe Mode loads Windows with a very minimal set of drivers including the most basic VGA driver available as opposed to the more capable one your most likey using now. If the monitor works in Safe Mode then it's most likely a software problem, but it does not totally rule out the possibility that the VGA hardware is going bad.

If it worked in Safe Mode then I would try a System Restore to a date before the problem began. To use System Restore do this:

Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore.

It's pretty self-explanitory and it will restore many critical files that may have become corrupted. It will take a while to complete, but it is reversible so you have little to lose.

If all of this fails to help then I would do whatever you need to find another monitor to plug in before you go any further. It could be a bad monitor after all.

Now the editorial section. I don't get paid for this. I know it's a strange hobby, but I like to help if I can. If you found any of this helpful I hope you'll give this post a positive rating. Nearly half of the solutions I've posted have never been rated. Thanks and good luck.
