    "Clear carrier jam".....

It was printing fine....had it for a few months now.....

Today...everytime I printed it was EXTREMELY loud and almost sounded violent the way it was printing.

Then all of a sudden, it started saying "clear carrier jam" (I wasn't even trying to print anything).

And everytime I check everything and press the check-mark....the cartridges ZOOM by really fast to the left and then fly back to the right and its saying the same thing over and over--I've tried everything.

The last time I was looking at it....it shot out this "film" strip.

    HELP!

Is your friend use CISS. If so
Move Ink cartrige holder to cartrige change station.
Put off cartrige ( genuin or CISS) from carrage
Take a soft erager try to remove dry in or dust or waste everything smothly
reassemble the cartrige again
push top of the cartrige gentaly sothat it struck acurately.
Turn on printer.
I think you will get rid from your pprinter problem.

Waste ink absorber is full and printer will not print

I found this guide, the most important part is pressing the ON button while you plug your usb and power leads after cleaning

first unplug the power cord and then the usb cord.
When you are done doing that, take the printer to an area where you have working space.
Put it down on some newspaper.
Open the lid. (Normally, when you open the lid with printer on, the cartridges will slide over to the left of the machine, this is important to remember for part of the cleaning).
Now, with printer lid up , look down inside the printer. you will see some plastic running horizontal with the printer ribbon, (the area I am referring to is right under where the ink cartriges slide back and forth)on the floor of the printer.
If you take your finger and feel inside, you will find a very thin, narrow piece of foam in between the plastic strips. You can gently remove this foam and clean it with denatured alcohol and let it completely dry before replacing. You can also go in and clean the plastic area with a Qtip, because there will be a residue of ink all over this area.
Also, right under where the ink cartridges park when opening the lid when plugged in is another small piece of rubber pad that should be cleaned too.
Once you have done this, and this is important.. before, and during the replugging of the usb plug and the power cord, YOU MUST keep the "on key" pressed in. This is going to help reset your printer once it's plugged in.
So keep your on button pressed down and plug both cords in. ONCE that's done, let go of the power button.
The yellow light might come on again, that's okay, just turn off your printer, wait a few seconds and turn it back on. It should work fine. We did this because we had read about holding in the button for resetting. If you clean the ink pads in the future you must do that because it actually is resetting something in your printer. Mine works just fine. I will add that I went through a lot of ink cartridges to get to this point but it is pretty easy to clean if you just take your time, be patient and carefully remove the foam not to damage it. Good luck

Ink cartrige cannot be recognised

make sure you've taken the protective tape off the cartrige. Usually its orange and noticeable.

Sometimes generic cartriges have a small chip and a registration that allows the printer to talk between the cartrige from what I under stand maybe ink levels and to protect profits on not allowing generic companies to make a more economical product competitively

the printer can sometimes be power cycled to allow it to accept the generic cartrige.
there are normally settings on a printer to see if you can change the internal settings can be altered to allow non Original Electronic Manufacturors products in a Canon Printer.

make sure that the type of printer you have is compatible with the printer. the computer may require a black cartridge or a color cartrige in a very specific location. they might not be allowed to be switched.
make sure the cartrige can slide in and out of it's slot comfortably.

FOR office printers. there are also protective tabs holding the ink in the cartrige. this side tab on the cartrige is there for shipping. these are normally on large 30 pound printers. top front loading Office printers. the tab needs to be turned hard and swift either clockwise or counter clockwise if you can't cleaning pull it out. Also remember your boss paid a lot for that cartrige dont break something your not comfortable breaking. be warned in advance this dry ink will spill and is hard to clean and harder to clean from clothing.

as per a fast solution a smaller printer and certainly a cartrige can actually be brought into a computer and electronics store whilst looking to buy a new print cartrige. Make sure if you do bring a piece of your own electronics into a store you check in with security. let them know its yours; wave it in front of a camera if youd like.
the seller normally should be able to recognize if their product will fit in your device it will save both of you time and inconvience.
cartriges cost about the same as a new printer with new ink.
dont be afriad to buy an extra ink at the time of purchase and risk letting it dry but having the back up that you know works-
you'll have a package for the next time you need a new cartidge. gives you more research material.
accept moores law
feel good about flossing on a new printer.
print some pictures and frame them-
pictures are some of the most important thing in our lives! Smile!

My printer (dell Photo AIO printer 966) keeps saying check for obstruction. I looked inside and there is a black band that is just laying on one side (left) of the ink cartriges. What do I do?

Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

The ink cartriges wont fit into the printer.

This printer uses PG-30 and Cl-31 ink tanks. You can also use PG-40 and CL41. Open paper output tray. Turn on the machine and lift up the scanning unit or printer cover. Pull unit support down into place and the ink holder will move to the left. Gently remove cartridges and install new ones. Let me know of outcome.

Yes, first unplug the power chord and then the usb chord. When you are done doing that, take the printer to an area where you have a little working space. Put it down on some newspaper. Open the lid. (Normally, when you open the lid with printer on, the cartridges will slide over to the left of the machine, this is important to remember for part of the cleaning). Now, with printer lid up in the air, look down inside the printer. you will see some plastic running horizontal with the printer ribbon, (the area I am referring to is right under where the ink cartriges slide back and forth)on the floor of the printer. Narrow strip came out from my printer (dell all-in-one photo 924

It goes through the ink cartrige holders and hooks onto the frame. It's called an encoder strip.

Carrier jam

This strip is called the encoder strip. I found this fix online, which is very similar to the 5470.

The only difference you'll have is the encoder stip fits INSIDE the cartridge carrier. I'll attach a photo to show you where. Good luck!

HP C3180 all in one printer won't realign

Hi,

We've encountered several problem like this. Hope this gives an idea; I understand the cartridge will not moved back to park tray or flash ink tray back and forth because the return pick-up guide were not properly placed into each original position. It will block the ink tray moving back and forth. You can roll back the roller into the original place by removing the back cover if it has, then turn the pick-up roller slowly allowing the roller to turn and backed to its original position. Removed also remains of jammed paper pieces.

Best regards,

Will only print 5 discs and then quit.

there is a magnetic strip in each cartridge of ink under the label. If you open up the cover of the unit on the left hand side facing the unit, you will see a bracketwith a circuit board on it that the ink carraige slides over. Under the board there is a magnetic reader(like a credit card machine) the ink carraige slides by and it reeads the ink to make sure it's proprietary cartridges. the reader has to be very close to the cartridge or it will send the machine into error mode after 5 discs and not drop any more. You have to physically bend the metal arm down till the readers within a few mm's of the cartridge (like the width of a quarter) this will fix your problem.
