Backfires and bogs

I have a 1998 polaris 600 XC and when you first take off it will backfire sometimes and also when you put the throttle to the handle it will bog and almost shut down. when i was riding it would also have a hesitation when you hammer on it. It's pretty much a brand new sled with only 1500 miles on it. I thought that i might be bad spark plug so I put new ones in and I also put a new belt on it also but that didn't fix the problem. I heard that it could be the cluch that could do that but i'm not sure about that. What do you think could be the problem??
Thanks, Dustin

Check your throttle position sensor. If you lift up on throttle lever when you apply it and it doesnt stumble thats your problem

Hey there,,before you get carried away, check the simple things first. Is the fuel fresh? A 99 sled with only 1500 miles must have done alot of sitting. You may need to clean carbs, and I would change fuel filter. If this doesn't help, clean and lubricate clutch and secondary. But make sure you have fresh fuel first off. Good luck!!

You need to take the carbs apart and have them cleaned and make sure they are adjusted properly. you also should make sure your choke is not stuck open . check theintake boots for leaks and also make sure your clutches are cleaned up and lubricated

I have a 02 600 XC edge the temp light come on and off when the light comes on the motor starts to run rough also when you give it acculturate the light comes on

I have a 00 700 XC and my temp light and engine use to do the same thing. I raised the hood once and noticed the temp sender wire had rubbed bare and a cylinder head bolt and was shorting out. Just an idea??? Not sure if it would cause it to run rough though, it seems as if mine did as well a few years back.

I have a 1997 polaris indy xc 600 tripple that is getting to much gas and the crank keeps filling up with gas. It wont even start.

bad needle and seat in carburetors allowing gas leak by needle in carbs. Turn off gas when not in use and will help get by until you can replace them

I have a 1997 polaris xc 600 sled gas shutoff up or down

The petcock for the gas should be in line with the fuel line for it to be on. If it is perpendicular to the line it isoff.

Xc 600 stalling

when it stalls, is it on a warmer day? ie 20+ degrees? is it overeheating or hot? If you have never had the carbs serviced, the summer/fall may be a good time. inside the carbs, you have differnt circuits, they may be gummed up. Good luck

Reverse issues

i believe that your reverse gear is a kit. Now they are not gear driven, they actually run the motor in reverse to back you up, anyways, if you look down from your reverse lever, you will see a adjuster nut or guide bolt. try adjusting that some. you definitely don't want to keep grinding those gears!! reverse kits are around 500 bucks. Good luck
