There should be a knob on the face of the radio that says talk back. Adjust it to your liking but not to much so you don't get feed back.

I talk on my cb no one talks back

you could have ten people talking to each other and if no one wants to talk to you then you will be talking to no one.Now if its a radio problem then I would say turn up the variable for your modulation , make sure your RF GAIN is wide open and turn your SQUELCH all the way to the left then go to different channels and ask for a radio check or have a friend drive far enough away and with his radio give you a radio check.

I have a Motorola Talkabout from 1998 that has a talk button, a monitor button, and a power button. Whenever I press the talk button it just says the channel....but when I talk through my other walkie...

It seems a small hardware-problem, like a button is sticking, making a continues connection. If you are comfortable in hardware-modifications, try to open the casing of the malfunctioning walkie talkie. Do this carefully, not to damage it further.
When opened, check the 3 buttons to see any damage, or undesired connections (caused by extensive use or plain dirt).

When i talk people they can hear me but i cant hear them talk back to me

Turn up your RF gain. If that isn't the issue, then the mic may be damaged. Try a new mic.

I have a problem

Hi,

Normally in a Motorola T5700, to set a specific channel to monitor (and reply to) called your working channel, you press the Menu (center) button and the current channel shown in the display will flash. Press either the + or - buttons to change to your desired channel number which should be identical to both radios. Press the PTT button to save.

Likewise, both radios must have identical Interference Eliminator Code. To set code, press Menu till the code display blinks. Press + or - to select code. Press the PTT to save. To disable the code, select 0.

Hope that this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
