  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

the disk i am using is a maxwell DVD+RW rewritable. i am using image burn however this problem is happening even if i go into my c drive and try to recognize the disk in my e drive

  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

no, that's great. if that's all the problem is i can use a few extra costers and take the rest back. thank you.

  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

i just bought the burner yesterday. i will try to get some regular DVD's and try it out.

  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

the problem is not happening with the program i am using, it's happening when i insert any disk. i have tried several even when img burn is closed

  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

sorry to be a pain, but even if i downloaded Nero, i can't get that far because my burner won't recognize the disk without asking me to format, then telling me it doesn't support it.

  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

i went into the drive but could not find DLA so i did the other suggestion. i did not get any prompts but i am assuming it did it? now do i do the opposite to enable?

  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

i will go tomorrow and buy regular DVD-RW disks and see if that will fix the problem. i bought DVD+RW because i read on a site that this was the best to use.

  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

  • krisdogmom Jan 22, 2009

Another question. i have tried going into command prompt and disabling DNA,never got a prompt so i don't know if it worked. i cannot locate it on the help files for the Cyberlink software that comes with the burner. i also cannot locate it in the burner drives itself. any other way to locate DNA?

  • krisdogmom Jan 23, 2009

DLA stands for Drive Letter Access
Are you sure you are using RW disks ?

There is something wrong with the question, first of all "format" refers to deleting the drive that one is using, format is a preestablished layout for data. You only format either a "drive", or a "re writable disk". So why you are formatting a rewitable disk makes absolute sense, unless you used the same drive to format the disk or disks on a prior occasion. It is quite common for a dvd that was burned on a drive in computer A, not to work properly in computer B's drive. I can burn a screener on a dvd and watch a perfect copy in my drive, and give it to my neighboor and he can't get it to play, either due to the codecs, or the fact that his "player" doesn't read Divx,Xvid, or some other format. My dual burner drives are sony, and won't work with mawxell cdrw's, they just don't like them. This has plagued the dvd drives scince day one. Now if you add a program that is not proprietary like the one you are using, you just throw a second variable into the mix. You may find that as mentioned a different software program, yeilds different results. I have found that once you find a disk that your burner likes to eat, you are better off just using that one than trying to figure out why it won't work, as there is probablly nothing you can do about that.

Also you are better off using dvd-r disks unless you get the ones you use very cheap, I get a pak of 100 for about 15-20 dollars. So they are just so cheap that it's no big deal if you make a coaster now and again. Once you rewrite a few times the quality suffers and you more than likely aren't saving any money using them.

What version of windows are u running on> try unplugging the dvd burner and unistall everything involved with it then shut the computer down..plug everything back in and let the computer find the rewriter on its own and then go from there. sometimes you can reformat your hard drive with it hooked up and it will find it also but try the easy way first

Sounds like you're using Sonic

DLA stands for (drive letter access) and is designed for RW disk

Disable DLA in the drive's properties page

Or just drag n drop the file on the disk with windows

The discs written by DLA are only readable on windows system
with DLA or some UDF reader installed.

Right click on the drive icon, select properties and there should be a check box to enable or disable DLA mode.

If not, open a command window and at the prompt type
dla.exe disable X (X is the drive letter) and press enter.

You should try using NERO for copying and duplicating media.
Using Nero can solved your problem here.

Nero has a application wizard that will guide you step by step doing certain project you have.

Better to use this one.

Good luck....

Since you're willing to remove/disable, and fix DLA error on the media software you use.
Here is a instruction on "How to diable DLA" (for XP)

    1. Right-click the drive name in My Computer.

    2. Select Properties from the shortcut menu.

    3. Click the DLA tab on the Properties dialog box.

    4. Click the "Enable DLA on your drives" checkbox until

    the checkmark disappears.

    5. Click OK.

After completing your backup, enable DLA by restoring

the checkmark in the "Enable DLA on your drives" checkbox."

    • if you have a copy of NERO.better to;

    • do a complete un-installation of the current driver & the burning application you have using.

    • Install the current version of NERO that you have.

    • Do Double checking on the disc you have inserted and use, could be your are only getting the error only from that disc you have.

    • Use and test it again with a new/different disc.

The issue is DLA. I would try to disable DLA and try again, or, go to Help for the software that was provided with the writer and read up on enabling /disabling DLA.

IN windows explorer, right click on the drive. There should be an Option to enable or disable DLA.

You need to use a CD-R or a DVD-R disk only. You can not use the RW cds or dvds. Sorry

Some Memorex discs are a little dodgy, do not use format on a write once disc i.e a DVDR or CDR. format is for CDRW and DVDRW , formatting a write once disc normally messes up the disc.

DLA stands for drive letter access and is designed for RW disks, so it wouldn't be usable in this situation. The Nero version is called "InCD". If you're going to use Nero, you should probably uninstall DLA.

With Nero you should be able to create a data disk using the "wizard". Make sure you've selected DVD or CD, depending on what you're using....

Why are you trying to format the disk? I would suggest you use nero to erase the contents of the disk if you have some files you need to get rid of you can get nero from www.nero.com before burning in new files.

You definitely should call LG--your new gaget isn't working, and it is under warranty. Or try going to their website to see if they have any software upgrades--sounds like you have a bummer, and perhaps a reinstall from their website will do the trick.
