SOURCE: I HAVE AN HP PAVILION

Did you test the power supply with a power supply tester? You may only have partial power or very low power. I would try a power supply from another pc, Then I would check the ram in another pc if possible one stick at a time or if no other machine :
I would try removing all the ram and try one stick at a time in a different slot each time till it boots and then try a different stick the same way. You could have a bad memory stick and or slot.
I think its the power supply first, a bad stick of ram second or a bad ram slot third and the motherboard last. I would try all my parts in another pc first before a buy another motherboard

My Acer Aspire 6530-5753 laptop stopped charging the battery even though the power supply light was on--it's an aftermarket charger from Radio Shjack. The battery ran dead and it wouldn't run on...

This is not the motherboard. The batteries in laptops have electronic sensors in them. When they reach the end of life, they stop the computer from turning on. Once that happens it wont power on with the battery in or out. Batteries are not that expensive. Only about 25 dollars.

I turned off the computer by going to shut down earlier today I went to turn it back on this evening and the CPU won't turn on

hello, make sure nothing has come unplugged and that none of the buttons are stuck on. With that said if this is an older pc, your power supply inside the case might have went out. power supplies go out quite often, replacing them is not to bad just make sure you have the correct physical and power size. Also verify that it has the connectors for that particular motherboard.
hope this helps

After press push buttom , power not on , fan not on ... as dead

It might be the power supply that is dead or motherboard or together.

1. Try to disconnect all the connection at the back of your computer tower then press the power button of your computer for 15 seconds to drain the remaining power.

2. Reconnect only the power button and the monitor cable then turn it back on. (If the same thing happened go to step 4 if not go to step 3)

3. ( From step 2 ) If it turned back on, most probably the problem is one of the devices that you just disconnected is causing the problem. Try to reconnect then one-by-one and each time you connect them turn on your computer, let's check if it's gonna turn on or not, just proceed until you finish connecting all of the device or until you pin point the root cause of the issue.

4. (From step 2 ) If it didn't turn on, Open up your computer tower and reseat the video card, then turn on the computer

5. If still the same problem, remove your hard drive and turn on your computer, if it turned on, meaning that the hard drive might be the problem, if not, just put it back in

6. If still the same problem, remove the memories from your computer, if you have more than one memory installed remove them all, test the first memory to the 1st slot and to other slots one-by-one, see if it turned on. Test the second memory and so on, to the 1st slot and so on. Do it only with one memory testing each memory.

7. Reseat the power cord coming from the power supply, the 21 pin and also the small one that is plugged into your motherboard,

8. Reseat the CPU

9. If all of those things failed, most probably that the power supply is causing the problem. it's also possible that the motherboard is affected, I hope not.

I had a loud fan noise coming from inside my desktop box for a while. One day (& ever since,) when I went to turn the box on, absolutely nothing happened: no fans, no BIOS, no LEDs. I made no config...

This may work however i think by ignoring the sound of the Fan you might have destroyed the cpu and the motherboard. If you can try the processor in another machine you might just have to replace the motherboard only.
Good Luck

Try to turn on computer and the fan blows, but light jiggles and nothing happens. Hard drive shot or processor or ...???

Sounds like the power supply or the motherboard. If you have another computer available, you can test the power supply. Just "borrow" the power supply from the other computer. If it still won't come on, then the motherboard might be bad and you'll need replacement.

If you swap the power supply and the motherboard is bad, you will not hurt the working power supply. The motherboard is already dead and won't feed back to the working power supply.

Also, if you have flashed your BIOS recently and it has not completed successfully, you might have a dead motherboard and you will need to replace it. You would know if you flashed or updated your BIOS chip.

Hope this helps!

I have a cisnet computer as of yesterday it would not turn on. i have unplug it for a whole day and turned it on, but did not get any results. thank you!

It is possible that your power supply is not working anymore - that happens sometimes. This is how I would test it:

  1. Unplug the power cable
  2. Open the computer housing (look into your manual how to do that.)
  3. Plug the power chord back in.
  4. Do not touch anything inside of the computer!
  5. If you press the power button, the fan of your power supply should start spinning. If it doesn't, then the power supply is dead.
  6. If your power supply is ok, then the cause is somewhere else (motherboard, harddrive.) Try to listen if the harddrive is spinning (good) or making clicking noises (bad).
  7. Unplug the power and replace the cover.

Let me know what you found out. If the power supply is dead, you have to replace it. It is not worth it trying to repair it.
I'm happy to help.

Raidmax 500w power slowly died, then wont turn back on.

1.-Your CPU fan is working?

2.-Your Power supply fan is working?

If not and following your description I think that you have to replace your power supply.

If you have the light on in the motherboard doesn't mean that your power supply is good.

Check the first to points above and if 1 and 2 are not working

Replace your power supply.

Let me know how it is going!

Was one of the tips on the HP site to unplug your Video Card?
The power supply might be having trouble pumping enough power into the card.
After you take out the card and get it to POST, go into the BIOS and turn on the onboard graphics and see if you can get it back to the OS screen.
If that doesnt work post again and ill try to help you further.
