Question about Computers & Internet
If it still works with a battery the computer is fine and the ac power input may be fried. They can be replaced at a cost. I once had a problem like this and found my new ac charger was actually not powerful enough to power the laptop. Check that the old and new ac charger are the same watts amps etc.

Something, a component, in the laptop may have fried the charger. I don't know for sure. You would have to trace the circuit with a multimeter to locate the bad power component.

Most laptops will work with or without the battery and with the power adapter connected.
If the power adapter is OK, just connect it to the laptop's power socket and wriggle this plug. Does the charging LED flash as you wriggle this plug? If so the power socket may have a dry solder joint or it may be faulty. Either way the laptop needs to be dismantled to solder or replace the power socket.

It sounds like the connector from the A/C adapter to the motherboard is loose or the inside of the adapter plug that attaches to the motherboard is defective.

Check the ac adapter. It seems your adapter is not charging it. Either the ac adapter or your dc port may be the problem. Is this the correct adapter, is it giving the correct voltage. These should be considered also.
Hope this helps you
