Question about Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 - Pentium Dual Core T2060 1.6 GHz - 15.4in. TFT PC Desktop
Have a N100 notebook and battery does not recharge and now runs on AC
power but would shut off by itself very shortly after switching it on.
Brought a new AC adapter and battery straight from the lenovo website,
but did not solve the problem. I called lenovo directly they are not
sure what could be the cause of the problem. They never heard of this
problem. Laptop is only a year or so old, and only use couple
hours a day. Wondering if anyone have
the same problem and had it resolve, I would appreciate any insights
you can offer. Thank you in advance for you help!
My N100 0768 is running Vusta. It will not charge the battery and it shuts down at random times but never gets hot. It lasted 6 minutes the first time I tried to boot it after I got it back from an authorized Lenovo repair shop, and then when I reboot it again it lasted only 3 minutes.
Lenovo replaced the fan, and that resolved the shut down problem for less than 30 days. Just yesterday, the repair shop replaced the mother board and then the CPU, that did not resolve the problem. It seems that the longer the laptop is turned off, the longer it will stay on once it is booted.
It does not even stay on long enough for me to backup all my files. Lenovo wants me to restore it to the factory defaults, and that means I will lose all my programs and all my data. The shut down occurs even if I do not load Vista.
Can anyone help me resolve the shut down issue? Thank you very much. Peg firstname.lastname@example.org
This seems to be a common problem on Lenovo N100. Lenovo should present a solution or make a recall of the machine in order to keep their reputation

Hi.. I have a temporary solution to your problem. I had the same problem. Remove the battery and the ac adapter from the laptop. Just reconnect the ac adapter without the battery and switch on the lap. Presto.. Problem solved.. It doesnt power off anymore unless u remove the ac adaptor. Usefull if u hav needed files n want 2 create a backup. Still i havent found out a permanent solution to this problem. I suspect its a motherboard fault

I have the same problem. It seems that running on battery it's fine, but if the AC adapter is in the frame at all then it cuts out with no warning. It has taken me a while to come to this conclusion!! It sounds as if a small relay clicks just as the computer trips

Same problem, n100 768 lenovo, did some digging, seems to be a motherboard design fault, but Lenovo refuses to own up to it, what is needed is a Class Action Lawsuit, if anyone hears of one please contact me email@example.com

I have similar problem with my Lenovo N100. I tried several suggestions provided in this and other threads but none worked.
I have tried to run the laptop just on power code, without battery as suggested by few. It seems, this works for few but not for all.
Too bad Lenovo is not taking any responsibility and coming up with solution. It sucks that now I have buy a laptop just within 2 years but one thing is sure, it won't be Lenovo this time.
