Question about Canon Pixma iP6600D InkJet Photo Printer
I know this is an old string but we had the same issue, but we caused it. After replacing the Ink Collector pads we started getting the error that the front door was close please open. What we found was when the tech put the printer back together he broke the front door switch. It is located on the bottom left of the media "block" (where you put the smart card in).
To get to it you have to remove the silver outer casing and also remove the top black shell. There is a video on youtube on how to open the black shell. Pretty much four pressure points that have to be removed, too much to post here so watch the video. Once the whole shell was open I was able to get to the switch.
Since the switch was broken and I did not have a replacement I ended up soldering the contacts together so that the switch is always open (door is always open).

It was rather easy to figure out how to pop the silver plastic outter casing off, but now that I have it off I still can't seem to identify where the switch that signals the paper outter tray is.

I solved this problem by putting a shim between the door & switch lever.
The shim is just a piece of cardboard/plastic/whatever about the thickness of a credit card & about 1/4 inch wide.
At the lower right corner of the paper outlet is an opening about 1/4 inch square. On the right side deep in this opening is a lever (rather hard to see). When the door is opened it lifts the lever up (presumably telling the printer the door is open). I took a small screwdriver, inserted it into the left side of the opening, turned it counterclockwise until it caught the edge of the lever & lifted it up, inserted the shim below the lever, & withdrew the screwdriver. This solved the problem (it has only recurred once since the shim was put in).
If the shim falls out just reinsert it. Of course, if you ever want to close the door you need to remove the shim first.

Its a defective printer you have that cant get out of paper output tray is close or that the paper output tray is not properly placed into the printer.
Try to reseat the output tray and let me know. If it does not work, you may need to send printer to repairs.
