Canon pixma ip6600d paper output tray closed - Canon Pixma iP6600D InkJet Photo Printer

I have been having this error recurrently for the last few years, finally so bad the printer almost always gives this message. I could temporarily get the printer to print the page it was on by weighing down the paper output tray with extra sheets of paper and/or a stapler, but this eventually didn't work either. I could not find the little lever discussed here no matter how hard I tried looking for it. I finally removed the outer shell (use the service manual to see how to do that) and found a teeny tiny little lever about 1/2" long and as thick as a pencil lead which would get lifted when the paper output tray was lowered. The problem is that the paper output tray itself is a two part snap together affair that left a small gap just where the lever was hitting and the lever was sinking into the crevice. My solution was to cut the lever off and connect the two pieces of wire together with a small piece of heat shrink tubing, so that the lever is no longer used. Once I had the cover back on, this now prevented this error from ever happening again. Otherwise, I have had this printer for years - have many ink tanks for it as well, and it runs great.

I know this is an old string but we had the same issue, but we caused it. After replacing the Ink Collector pads we started getting the error that the front door was close please open. What we found was when the tech put the printer back together he broke the front door switch. It is located on the bottom left of the media "block" (where you put the smart card in).
To get to it you have to remove the silver outer casing and also remove the top black shell. There is a video on youtube on how to open the black shell. Pretty much four pressure points that have to be removed, too much to post here so watch the video. Once the whole shell was open I was able to get to the switch.

Since the switch was broken and I did not have a replacement I ended up soldering the contacts together so that the switch is always open (door is always open).

SOURCE: Canon PIXMA iP5300 InkJet thinks paper output tray is closed (it isnt) and won't print!

It was rather easy to figure out how to pop the silver plastic outter casing off, but now that I have it off I still can't seem to identify where the switch that signals the paper outter tray is.

SOURCE: Paper output tray is open but message says it is closed

I solved this problem by putting a shim between the door & switch lever.
The shim is just a piece of cardboard/plastic/whatever about the thickness of a credit card & about 1/4 inch wide.
At the lower right corner of the paper outlet is an opening about 1/4 inch square. On the right side deep in this opening is a lever (rather hard to see). When the door is opened it lifts the lever up (presumably telling the printer the door is open). I took a small screwdriver, inserted it into the left side of the opening, turned it counterclockwise until it caught the edge of the lever & lifted it up, inserted the shim below the lever, & withdrew the screwdriver. This solved the problem (it has only recurred once since the shim was put in).
If the shim falls out just reinsert it. Of course, if you ever want to close the door you need to remove the shim first.

SOURCE: canon ip4300 printer says paper output tray is closed. wont prin

Its a defective printer you have that cant get out of paper output tray is close or that the paper output tray is not properly placed into the printer.

Try to reseat the output tray and let me know. If it does not work, you may need to send printer to repairs.

What does close the feeder tray mean

The Canon PIXMA iP4000 InkJet Printer has two paper sources for printing. Likely the top feeder tray is not completely closed (it is possible you do not have the printer set up to feed from both which may cause the error).

Canon Pixma i4300. Front output paper tray pounced on by pet cat. Closed it up and opened it again When I try to print I get this message: "Document printing cannot be executed because the paper...

If you can remove the tray - have a look at it and it should come out without much force by pressing on the sides. If it comes out you may see the sensor inside that maybe is bent up and is not registering that the tray is open. If you see it you can bend it back down. You can also shoot canned air(with the tray in the out position of removed from the machine) and a piece of debris may come out. Use short squirts or the can gets very cold. All the office supply places and computer stores sell the cans of compressed air.

If none of the above helps, you can always communicate directly with Cannon at:

Canon printer mx328 is when i scan it display ''the paper output tray'' what mean and how to clean it. Please help.

Hi

If the Paper Output Tray is closed, open it. The machine resumes scanning. If opening the Paper Output Tray does not resolve the problem, or if the tray was open to begin with, the paper may be jammed. Remove the jammed paper, reload paper properly in the printer, then press the Black or Color button.

I have Canon pixma MX310 and I just trying to set it up.I'm trying to print and there is message open paper out tray. What is that mean and how I can fix it

The printer will not print as long as the paper output tray is closed.
  1. Open the Paper Output Tray (2).
Put your finger in the rounded indent beside the Paper Output Tray and open it gently.

  2. Open the Output Tray Extension (3).
Open up and set the Output Tray Extension completely by pressing down the hollow on its front side.

  3. Adjust the position of the Paper Thickness Lever (4).
Set it to the right when printing on envelopes or T-shirt transfers, and left when printing on any other type of paper.
