Hi Marsha,

You have three choices:
1. Send it to me or company for repair
2. Try to fix it yourself
3. Load up my ATG EOS Utility onto your pc

#3 is the cheapest & best way to confirm if the Shutter Button is defective.
-Load up the CD that came with camera.
-Install EOS Utility
-USB Cable connected to camera & pc
-You are will know be shooting "Tethered" with the camera
-Turn on camera
-Double click on EOS Utility

If you need more help, send me an email.

Shutter button does not work after camera was dropped.

You dropped it and that is the problem, it is junk. Repair cost will exceed price of good camera.

Camera - Nikon N2020, Problem is shutter curtain is locked in the closed position. Camera works in all other aspects but film is not exposed.

From what you've given, it sounds like the shutter is fried. If you're wanting to keep the camera, and use it, you'll need to contact a repair technician and have them take a look at it for a repair estimate - assuming it's able to be repaired. Estimates will run you around $35 most places, if there's no shop near you KEH Camera which has a website is quite good. But, the N2020 has an electronic shutter which was never truly intended to be replaced, and no longer manufactured by Nikon, so the only source of them is scrounged from other cameras that have been scrapped for other reasons.

The N2020 is currently available online (ebay and others) for $5-20, so it'd probably be much cheaper to do this, than repair yours. I picked up a never used example of the 2020 with manuals, paperwork, and box on ebay for $10 a couple of years ago.

The same thing just happened to my Nikon FE, and my estimates have been ranging anywhere from $105-145 to get it fixed, so the decision of whether to repair or replace if really left up to you. But, as I said often replacement is cheaper than repair, unless you have some attachment to your camera (which I do, and which I'll have repaired).

My canon eos20d wont take picture, when it does it comes out blurry or overexposed, and it gives me error 99 I live in Mexico so there is no canon repair here, what can i do?

It needs to be sent in for repair. Error 99 is a generic error code informing you that there is something wrong. Since when it actually takes photos and they become blurry or overexposed, I assume its you shutter that has gone bad. The shutter must be staying open longer then it should be. The closest Canon repair plant is in Irvine,Ca. Heres the address and number 15955 Alton Parkway, Irvine - (949) 753-4000 . Sorry about you camera, but its most likely cheaper to buy another used one then to repair it. The repair cost will be between $150-250, but you will get a new shutter that should last a while longer.

My FA camera shutter release button won't work, no reaction when depressed and look through the view finder was dark.

The dark viewfinder usually means that the battery must be replaced as the mirror has fully or partially locked up. A new battery usually fixes this instantly. The stuck shutter release can also be due to a failed battery or is due to the shutter lock being engaged. The lock is disengaged by pulling the film advance lever back slightly.

You can download free instructions for your camera courtesy or the Norman Butkus website; if you find his information useful then consider making a donation as he suggests toward his site running costs.

The battery is either two SR44's or LR44's, the latter are cheaper but give less accurate exposures due to their unstable voltage output, but if you're shooting on negative film instead of transparencies you'll be unlikely to spot the difference. A single CR1/3N battery also does the same job as two LR44's but is harder to find and more expensive than two of the very common LR44's.

THE SHUTTER DOES NOT WORK

Assuming the camera powers up normally and there is no low battery warning, then you have a faulty shutter assembly. As your camera was originally only designed to last a maximum of five years it's done pretty well.

If so, there is absolutely nothing you can do as the only fix is a new shutter assembly and spares are hard to obtain now. This is a professional repair only and it will be far cheaper to just replace your camera body. 35mm EOS 500/Rebel bodies are almost ten a penny these days as are the comparable Nikons of the same era. You can take a gamble on buying one, but I've never paid for a single one: all mine have come from my local FreeCycle/Freegle groups. They're all virtually worthless precisely because they have a lot which can go unrepairably wrong and because they almost always need the investment of fresh batteries and a couple of processed rolls of film to check that they actually work properly.

Sorry that your camera looks to be bound for the recycling box, but at least I hope that I've given you some realistic low cost ways around the problem. Please take a moment to rate my reply.

Sony ericsson k850i doesnt work :@

Replace the backlight or screen. If you look really closely in daylight you might be able to just see the screen. If you can vaguely see it, it's a backlight problem. Replace at any phone shop for £20. Takes them about 2 weeks to fix. Screen problem will take longer, and its cheaper to get a new phone! Say you didnt want to though it would take about 4 weeks because you would have to send it through a phone shop indirectly to a manufacturer. Would cost around £40!

Command Dial not working

I have had 2 cameras which developed a fault with the selector dial for exposure compensation & other parameters. Problem was a faulty selector switch on 1st camera. I was lucky to have this repaired under guarantee. Fuji replaced the top end of the camera to fix the fault.

Don't know how much it would cost to get fixed. These cameras are no longer made by Fuji, but I like them for a number of reasons and plan to use them for as long as possible.

Might be cheaper to buy a used replacement on Ebay rather than getting it repaired.

Casio EX - Z4B

That product is old enough that it wouldn't pay to send it in to have it fixed. The shutter isn't opening more than likely because the springs that open and close it have given out with age. You can try sending into repairs for an estimate on what it would cost to fix but it would probably be cheaper to buy a new camera.

The scroll wheel won't work

Mine also stopped functioning so took it to a camera repair shop. The shaft had broken and had to be replaced. It cost me approx a sixth of the price of the camera.
