Re: how to set up printing from my new macbook pro laptop
The easiest way is to download the software from the Canon website. The install file will allow you to select the printer, and you won't have the issue of not finding your printer driver in the drop down list where it asks you to select one.
1. Download Software from Canon website: www.usa.canon.com/download
2. Plug printer in with USB cable.
3. Run downloaded software.

Go to System Preferences > Hardware > Print & Scan > click on add printer or scanner. Now let the OS search for printer under Default tab. If it finds your MP250, great. Proceed with adding and delete the old MP250 printer in the list.
Take the provided USB cable that came with the printer and connect it to the macbook pro. From this point go to your system preferences in your mac. Go to the printer setting, from there it should recognize your printer and you will have a variety of options, including setting it to your default printer.
Just a thought, did you use the HP CD that came in the box?
Go to Apple's website and look under the support - downloads section. You'll find a mega-sized download of up-to-date HP drivers. Download it and install it.
Then open the print and Fax setting in system preferences and remove the existing HP printer, You should then have no printers listed in the printer box.
make sure the printer is connected to the macbook and switched on and then use the Plus symbol to add a new printer. In less than a moment your printer name should appear in the empty space. Select it and wait. You should then get a thing saying 'Print Using...." It should fill in automatically with info about the driver being used.
Do what ever it asks and then close the window and see if you can print without the earlier problems.
First make sure the Wifi light on the printer is lit which will show if the printer is connected wirelessly to the router or not.
If not then enter the Network settings on the printer and carry out a Wireless Lan set up using the wizard. If there is now a light Go to Apple Menu > system Preferences > print and fax,
Delete the printer that is in the list and then select Add.
Select Bonjour and wait for the printer to appear, highlight it and then add it.
turn on the printer sharing via the system preference panel on the computer that is on the system via usb. Then on your wifi computer look for shared printers and you'll see your printer in the list under the host computer name... use that setting and it should fire up for you! let me know how it goes...
Hello I think I might have a way to solve this problem. I had a similar issue, and it was caused by having a file in the print queue that would not print.
Open Print and Fax Preference, then open the Print Queue button. Highlight any files in the queue and delete them.
Hope this works for you
Whenever you send a file to print from a program a small window shows up. If it shows only
Printer: Drop down menu ARROW
Presets: Drop down menu
Some buttons at the bottom
then click on the ARROW pointing down for more options. That will show more info, including a drop down menu that will allow you to change page settings, printing settings, etc. For example, if you want to change the printing quality, select "Paper Type/Quality" from that drop down menu and new options will show up allowing you to change the settings of the printer.
Your printer may, not have the same operating system to use. with your mac. For example your printer may only run on window as mac O/S is diffrent from windows that why you can not change the setting on you macbook pro.there might be some up to date drivers for you printer on the internet that may help you solve you problem
