Sudden VGA cord format not supported

My TV, which I use as my monitor for my desktop, was working fine for about 6 months. I tried to download Star Wars the Old Republic, and when I hit Play, my screen went black and I got the Format Not Supported message. Now, I get this message all the time, and can't use my computer to fix anything

Try downloading Either CCCP of KLcodec packs. That is what the "format not supported" means. To stop the film playing and continue using your computer you will need to start the "Task Manager" [ctrl, Alt and Del] , then end the media player that you are using.

SOURCE: I have a brand new (just got it today) Acer Aspire

VGA MODE NOT SUPPORTED, usually will meanthat the resolution your laptop was sending to the monitor wasnt supported.

this can be fixed with it plugged in and using the laptop display. you shoudl be able to chenge display properties and apply a different resolution to each screen.

system not fully installed is an interesting one. does it do this all teh time when you reboot now? with or without the monitor connected?

My tv says invalid format when I plug my dell inspiron into it

Sounds like you may need to check your video drivers for an update, besides Windows itself find out what video you have Intel or Amd and update thru their website. It can also be that your tv is running at a resolution that your laptop might not support. However most new video drivers allow for custom resolution settings that can be applied besides the native ones in windows. If its a vga cable I almost can be certain that it is not allowing the native resolution of your display.Hdmi will automatically adjust it.Also try hooking the laptop up to a Pc monitor and check for a display if it works on the monitor you need a custom resolution for your tv. Also try a different input on the tv (if ones available) and check it.

No pitcure, but the power light is on

My first bet is on a dead power-inverter. Get it replaced if you can still see a very darkened picture. OR... if there's no picture at all, call warranty support or take it to a repair shop. Also, if you're fine with electronics, I can guide you step-by-step to diagnose the fault.

Why do you use VGA-HDMI cable? This TV works fine with VGA cable - it has VGA plug.
Or if your notebook has DVI output, then you can use DVI/HDMI cable and connect it to the TV to plug named DVI/HDMI (only one HDMI input is marked as DVI on TV).
I suppose that over HDMI the TV supports only some standard resolutions, but over VGA it supports almost every resolution laptops use. You can find supported resolutions for each input in the TV manual. Try setting the same resolution on the laptop.

I plugged in the VGA cord from my computer to my television

Most likely your current resolution isn't supported by the TV. Before you plug your TV up to your computer, set your desktop resolution to 1024 x 768. This is the standard and is supported by most if not all flat screens. If it doesn't work on this setting try 800 x 600 or 1280 x 768. One of those three should show up. If no resolutions work, then there is something wrong with the TV. If other monitors work on your computer then the computer is just fine.

look at the vga plug to see if there are any pins bent.
If not then you'll need to replace the monitor.
