Sometimes, it's rare but CD/DVD/Blu-ray/Game Discs will oxidize much faster than normal causing a ring on the bottom if you look at it and the disc will no longer be able to be read. Usually this is due to a manufacturing defect of the disc such as if the lacquer coating on the top was not sealed properly on all the edges in the factory. Usually CD/DVD-R discs will oxidize in about 10 years or so but for commercial discs usually it takes much much longer as the manufacturing process is of higher quality.

SOURCE: big rings on the disc

A common problem that XBOX owners are reporting is if the console is moved during play, a whirring noise is heard and then when the disc is removed, very visible laser burn rings are found on the disc.

Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “ring of death marks”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but a professional disc repair service is usually required to repair any scratches or laser burn on discs. They can be fixed!!!

For further help on XBOX & XBOX 360 disc repairs, visit:

www.discREPAIR.ie Get Scratched Discs Repaired Back to "As Good As New Condition".

Check the “More Info” & “FAQ” Sections for further details on game disc repairs and related matters.

If this laser burn scenario is consistently happening to your game discs especially if the console has not been moved or bumped against while the discs is in play, the games console itself may require repair.
You should contact Microsoft for assessment and guidelines.

Hope this Helps!!!

Renewed chain recently, but when every now and then when I put weight on the pedals the chain rides over the rear casette. Replaced the rear casette but still have the same problem.

Assuming you replaced the chain because it was worn? The length of a chain increases as it wears, and the chain rings wear to match the longer chain. When you fit a new chain, it is shorter, doesn't fit the worn ring/s, and there is a risk that the chain will jump - most often on big and middle rings. If you let your chain wear a lot, you may need to replace your chain rings and possibly your cassette too,

The disc on my slim ps2 rubs against something on slim ps2. It leaves a big ring around the disc

The disc is most likely rubbing on the laser lens. The lens is held on rails which is held up by rubber boots that may have came loose and/or popped up forcing the laser lens to close to the disc. Make sure disc tray is aligned properly as well.

I wanted to play on lord of the rings the third age for ps2 when the console struggled to read it and went on to a red screen saying please insert format disc, i dont what one of them is and i just want to...

Is your disc original!!!
If don't, you have to change it to original, because PS2 ( with no Mod-Chip) can't read copy disc.

It's different if you install a Mod-Chip on the PS 2 Board, it's not a big problem.

If your disc is original and still won't play, then possibly the disc it self or the PS 2 lens already dirty, try cleaning it both........

Ps2 thingy!!! HELP PLEASE!!

The ring itself is not a big deal...........as you said your PS2 play other games but not the new one.......the problem could either be with your disc or the lens that might not be cleaned for along time(Remember PS2 works best only when its lens is at best shape)so make sure you clean the lens of your PS2 that might have got some dust on in.You can clean your lens by some lens cleaner disc or take it to the Sony outlet and ask them to do it for ya,though you can do it your self.

XBOX 360 PROBLEMS PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has happened to our 360. It seemed to happen the the 360 was on its side, We make sure that we do not force the games in fast, or remove them fast. If you need to get the scrathes out of the disc. Local game store can remove them. Or you can buy a kit @ Meijer or Walmary to remove scrathes from the disc.

Disc ring

While disc scratching is known to occur if you move your XBox360 console from vertical to horizontal position while the disc is spinning or by bumping the console while the disc is spinning, there have also been reports that discs have become scratched when the console has not been moved at all. The official line from Microsoft is: "If you are experiencing scratched discs without moving your console you should contact 1-800-4MYXBOX for warranty support from Microsoft." Unfortunately, Microsoft will not replace your scratched discs for free. Instead, they offer a scratched disc replacement program with a charge of $20 per disc. To take advantage of this program go to the XBox website and search for "XBox Disc Replacement Program".
