My wife got the same jazz camcorder. This is what i did to get it to read on my computer.I am running Vista ultimate but im sure this would work for XP as well.I connected the cam to the computer and without batteries i pushed the power button and held for 2-4 sec and voila it found the sd card i had.I am not sure if it works with batteries in it but i figure it should. Hope this works for ya
Make sure the software that came with the camera is intalled. Conect the camera to your computer (via USB the (batteries are not required to be in the camera when you do this)) press the button above the USB. On a pc in the bottom right corner will say "installing new device" ... load up "Showbiz DVD 2" (Start, all programs, Arcsoft showbiz dvd2, showbiz DVD 2.) select “capture from device”. It will show a live image off the camera. If you want to use the camera on an instant messaging service (I use windows live messenger 8.5) close Showbiz. Open instant messenger. Once loaded select Menu, tools, webcam settings. There you can adust settings like the brightness. Then if you want others to know that you have a web cam click on your display name, options, personal. At the bottom of this tam there is a tick box makes sure that this is ticked. Hope this helps
I believe that the camera will not charge directly from the computer - testing this theory myself... however I went to Radio Shack tonight and they have them there for 30 bucks (a bit outragious if you as me)
Once your camera is hooked up to your PC select Record/Play mode on the back of your Jazz. Then pull up the program you wish to use with your web cam and follow the instuctions to set up audio/video. The information can be found on pge 10 of your Jazz user manual uder 3.4.2 PC Camera Mode.
