Cannot connect DI-524 to VISTA

Hello! I have bought a router D-Link DI-524 and wired it to my modem so all of the computers at home would have wireless connection. I have two laptops, one with XP and the other one a brand new VISTA. The problem is that I could connect the XP laptop to it with no problem and installing nothing on it, just like that! When trying to connect my VISTA laptop to it, after installing all of the drivers the new computer had to install, I culd not see any wireless connections. Is it possible that DI-524 is not compatible with VISTA? Or should I make some changes on the connection configuration. I have read something here about DI-524 but nothing seemed to help me solve my problem before asking! Please help me, so I won't have to buy a new router. Thank!

I think I have installed all of the drivers just the way they should be. Is there any specific driver that should try get a newer version. Thou, all of the drivers installed on the computer where installed using the manufacturer web-site which scanned the computer and provided all of the necesary drivers. I did not mention that the internet connection was fine when I plugged in the wire from the router to the VISTA laptop. Thank you for your help

There is nothing on DI-524 what is Vista specific. Make sure you installed your dirivers properly. I have the same , works without problems.

try rebooting your cable modem by unplugging it then after 15 seconds plug it back in. let it come up, then reboot your router and wait til it comes up. If it still doesn't connect then there may be an issue with the router. I'm guessing the cable modem is OK since you were able to post here. I was going to tell you to hard wire your computer to the cable modem as well.

Connect to router with your browser and:

Check under Tools -> Time to confirm the router is synced to either the PC clock or a time server.
Check under Advanced - Filters (and firewall) to confirm the router is always on
Check under Home -> DHCP to confirm the lease time is set correctly

I have hooked my di 524 from my DSL cable modem then hooked the two in line to my computer when I hooked up to the computer I have no connectivity why?

OK, if I understand:
telephone----DSL Modem--di 524--computer.
That is what you are supposed to do.
Has any configuration of these devices ever had any connectivity?
1. Is the DSL modem in "Bridge Mode"? That is the first thing I'd check.
2. Are you using the right wires and ports? There may be a DCE-DTE problem. Be sure you have used the wire that came with the DSL modem to hook it to the internet port on the DI-524.
3. What is the state of all the various lights? Do they show that you have valid connections?
4. Most of these devices can be configured with a browser. When you browse them, what do you see?
5. What is windows telling you?

If your Broadband modem is only with w/USB connection you have to change modem/router, you won't connect it with usb to di-524.

I have had exactly this problem and after MUCH work downloading new drivers for the Vista Pcs and updating the operating system in the DI-524 found that the 524 does not operate well with Vista. A new DI-624 integrated well with Vista, and installed with no problems. Good luck!

Connect to wireless D-Link and Westell6100

I am assuming that you have a functional LAN cable connecting the Westell and the DI 524, right? If you are unsure, replace it with a cable you know is good.

If the 524 is turned on downstream of the Westell modem, it should find what it wants. You may try rebooting the Westell and seeing if the 524 finds it, and you maybe should reboot the 524.

Sometimes, when the world gets jiggered up I have to work pretty hard to get my DI-524 resync'd to my DSL modem.
