Hi I have a Eureka upright bagless vacuum and I need to use the hose attachment to vaccum a car seat and floor. How do I get the suction to apply to the hose only?

Look at the top of the plastic housing that covers the brush roller. You will find an adjustment lever that switches from floor to hose. The lever may be difficult to move. It is not a feature of Eurekas that ages well.

I took apart my Eureka 71B hand held vacuum and a small spring fell out. I don't know where it goes and can't find a manual anywhere. Help?

Lonny,
I have a 71-B2 model myself and if you can take a picture of the spring, I can try to take mine apart and see if I can figure out where your spring goes and get back with you.

We have a Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum and it looks like the belt broke. I removed the two screws at the bottom that should release the housing that holds the belt. However, the housing still does not...

There's a 3rd screw hiding underneath a plastic shield. You'll have to drill or cut off the covering but then it's pretty easy to deal with.12_9_2012_9_37_36_pm.png

4870 roller part number

I know the belt number
Eureka Part Number: 61110B (Replaces 61110, 61110A)
And the roller i think: Genuine Eureka Brush roller part number 61250-3 for Eureka The Boss/Smart vac/smartvac ultra 4800 series vacuums including models 4870 and 4880
Hope this helps you.

Eureka 4870: Brush roller turns even in hose setting.

You either have the wrong size belt, most likely too small, or you have installed a new belt incorrectly. When you open the cover on the bottom of your vac, you will see the pulley that moves as you flip the switch from floors to carpet. The belt does not go around this pulley. When activated(carpet) the pulley puts tension on the belt causing it to turn the roller. When switched back to hard floors, the belt looses tension allowing motor to cause suction but disabling roller. Also, the dial on top of vac is only to direct suction, not for disabling roller

New brushroll for eureka smartvac 4870; bristles too long to turn

HI Don't forget that you have a height adjustment control so its better to put it in the highest position - if this is not allowing the roller brush to move properly on the carpet then switch the vacuum off, and lightly trim with scissors on the brush lines. Avoid cutting everything down though - a slight trim should improve things. Generally though when brushes appear too long its usually because the height adjustment dial hasn't been set upwards.
