The motor that moves belt will not operate. Power is on when switch is on phono and needle will "scratch" but turntable motor does not power up on any speed. CD works ok.

Spin the motor between your fingers, sometimes they develope a 'dead spot' if it comes to life let it run for a few hours, this may fix it forever.

How do i get it to work? sorry but this is my first time using a record player

most of today's receivers dont have the jacks for phonos...you will be able to plug left/right plugs into aux/cd (unless you are using a power amp) . is your phono equipped with the needle (cartridge) also? yes, then you are ready to play a LP/Album...turn volume down on amp or receiver place LP onto turntable needle on switch source selector to what you plugged into turn vol up slowly and enjoy

Turntable will not rotate when in "Phono" mode

I recently was given my Father's CR78CD and, assuming your unit is in working order, you turn on the turntable motor by lifting the tonearm off the post and moving it away from the turntable about one and a half to two inches. You should hear a soft click as the switch for the motor activates.

Turntable not turning, no belt problems.

From your post, It seems that the motor is not working.

Could be a dead motor or related power supply.

My turntable does not work. Is there a lock ?

Try this - GENTLY move the phono arm to the RIGHT until you hear a click (of course, do this after you turn on the power via the volume dial and set the other dial to"phono"). Doing this turns on the turntable when you haven't used it in awhile. This worked for us, hope it works for you.

If it doesn't work, you can check the belt by removing the tiny clip at the center post and gently lift the turntable platform/tray to peek at the motor and belt underneath. The pulley is on the right at the 2 o'clock position, the belt should be in contact with it.

Turntable will not turn (spin)

It would appear this is a belt drive turntable - here's a link to a site where you can order a replacement, although you may be able to find a cheaper one.

Turntable wont spin

If everything seems ok with the power , there is usally a small microswitch that sends power to the motor when the tone arm is moved to the start of the record.
The switch might be bad or the lever that actuates it (connected to the tone arm) might be sticking. You may have to take the bottom cover off or remove the platter to see it.
Also make sure the belt is looped over the motor shaft. If the motor runs but the belt still doesnt turn, belt might be bad.

Stopped turning

Try removing the cover and looking for a broken belt. Make sure that the motor is spinning too. If you find a broken belt, let me know and I'll help you find a replacement.

Good luck!
