Question about Pride Mobility Products Casual CL30KD Lift Chair Chestnut
I hear a clicking sound in the control box when the paddle switch is pushed up or down but the motor does not try to operate. The up or down operation was sluggish or weak for a while and then operated okay for a while. This sluggish operation repeated a couple of more times but now the chair will not move at all. I checked the 9 volt batteries and they are okay.
The clicking is the mechanical part of the switch, but the electrical part may still be bad. In all the chairs I have serviced, it has always been the switch. The switch itself goes for about $25 plus labor to change it, and the whole control unit retails for about $100. the best test is to take the controller apart and short out the center wire to either side and check the chair for movement.

The solution that was posted, that the hand switch probably was bad, was correct. I tested the chair by shorting across the switch leads as suggested and the chair worked. In took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts and the chair now works as intended. I really appreciate the help.
