Toshiba A25-S208... worked great till the battery went dead and the charger as well. I purchased new charger and battery. The new charger would not charge either new or old battery. Sent new battery back. New charger and old battery, (which after battery was tested has voltage), works with cord plugged into land power. I restored computer to factory condition in hopes of resetting all defaults to include power management... battery now holds 10 minutes without land power.
I saw on the web others that have had this problem with new models of Toshiba laptops and the problem is the DC Jack needed to be resoldered. I have reordered a battery from another source to see if that is the problem but honestly, after 24 hours the old battery shows a 100% charge but within 10 minutes without land power I get a message to switch power source.
Can you help me?
Give the battery a good charge with the laptop off connected to an outlet overnight. Once done try it and see if the problem is still there.

I would find someone who could solder that adapter for you. Perhaps there's an electronics repair shop in town. You could do it yourself, if you feel confident enough. Beware that you will need to dissemble, the entire notebook to have it done. I would get the service manual for this laptop to do this.
I hope this helps,
Thanks for using FIxYa,

Sounds like you had two simultaneous events happen.
If you battery is over a year old, it's probably on it's last legs. You might be able to revive by powering the computer up on battery power, then let the battery run down completely before connecting the charger again. Do this 15-20 times, and the battery might come back to some life.
But the power socket issue is very common, and misleads many a person to believe their power supply is bad. Resolder or install a new DC socket, get a new battery, and your probably good as new.

Hi there,
First try to operate the laptop, without a battery on it and by using only a direct connection into its power adapter. Let see if you can have a power and use laptop using only AC power. this will identify on which output/input / + or - charged have a problem.
Keeps us more updated.

do a steps by steps checking and testing on the laptop, power adapter, battery pack.
- in this event, we will identify which on the positive+ and negative input/output charged has the problem, on the DC input jack, which makes the battery won't charged .
go to this next steps;
- in this event, we can identify in which the positive+ and negative
input/output battery terminals, has the the problem, and gives out a short operations on battery charge.
Post back again, and let me know on a detailed info what happens during each testing.

Is the laptop covered by warranty? the power goes to the battery via the motherboard and this is not a simple repair you can do at home, you will have to send this to repair service or possibly replace the whole motherboard. or pinpoint the issue which is not a easy task.
So hows your warranty? and after the 10 minutes does it turn off? change the windows settings so it only warns you and takes no action see if you can use the laptop for 30 minutes or more after the warning, does the battery go 0%?

NO warranty, no changing windows settings does not help..... I purchased another new battery online from different source and the laptop now will play an entire DVD, 1.75 hours and will surf inet for 1.5 hours so I assume I fixed the problem.
