Gateway 2000 PS-120 - opening the case

How do I open the case? It looks like it should just slide out after all the screws are removed, but it won't budge. There is the lock mechanism on the front, which is in the unlock position (no key for it; I used a screwdriver) but it still won't budge. Ideas? Thanks.

This is called a micro tower case.
Facing front, turn unit on its rubber feet. (right side down) Push in cover release handle. (located on front panel to left of cd drive, in black area) Lift cover gently upward, tilting back and away from case. To replace, reverse procedure, first making sure wiring is clear.

Most of these towers are vertical style, therefore the big button is just to the left of the Gateway symbol. Push it in and pull the left panel away from the case.

How to open the back of a model m 6332 laptop

Get a philip's head (star) screwdriver and remove all screws from the bottom of the laptop. Remove the battery and any screws revealed under the battery.

Next look for a thin straight-edge and -very gently- pry the keyboard loose; if you have trouble at this step, look underneath again for any small holes in the metal casing directly under the keyboard.

Also look for any removable rubber or plastic bumpers as these often have structural screws underneath them.

Finally, with the keyboard removed, you should see a few more screws which will at last allow the case to come apart and get to the boards underneath.

Hard drive bay opening

Take the screws out of the panel labeled 3. You'll find the hard drive in there. Usually, the drive will be secured with 2 or 3 screws - undo those and slide it out to remove/replace. I tried to look for a service manual but no dice. Best of luck!

How to open gateway FPD 1765 LCD CASE OR BACK COVER

At Last! Okay this is how you open a Gateway FPD 1765 monitor. This Monitor open from the front first to reveal 4 screw under the black trim. Lay the screen face up, NOT FACE Down. So that the GATEWAY LOGO is looking at you. Carefully, lift up the black plastic trim slide a knife or slim tool, or your fingers will do,lifting the trim up a off. BE CAREFUL NOT TO BREAK THE POWER BUTTON WIRES, near the power on button. Then remove the 4 screw holding the back cover on. When you remove these screw the monitor is free, but careful there are 2 set of thin short wires that need to be un plug. You should be able to go for there.

How do I remove the outside case on my Gateway DX4300-03U computer?

There should be some screws on the back side of the computer. If you look close you can see that there are either separate panels or one and a L shape panel. Take the screw out of the single panel, or all if ness. and slide toward the back of the computer. and then it should be very easy to pull it open. DO NOT FORCE IT. Look closely for Latches or Hinges

Opening a Gateway Solo 2150 laptop

I found the answer on another wed site. I tried it on my Gateway Solo 1500 and it works! The extra screws are hidden on top. You carefully remove the small face plate around the power button. I used a very small screw drive to lift it off.

I'm also an A+ certified tech, but I've done notebook service for a lot of years. I just finished opening up a Gateway Solo 1400 and it was NOT easy! There are no screws holding the keyboard on the bottom of the machine. You can get the case open about 95% and there will be one area stuck, in the back near where the screen cable goes into the unit. There is a hidden screw on the top of the case next to the hinge. To get to it, you have to remove the two screws that hold the plastic hinge cover and pry off the cover. I only managed to find it after removing the keyboard, the display, and the panel with the LEDs and power button. (The screws holding the keyboard are on the top of the machine, underneath the cover with the power button on it.)
