SOURCE: Loud knocking sound
You have a bad drive block. This block is located under the inner tub. A special spanner wrench is required to remove the tub. You really need to call a service tech for this repair.

I just had a technician tell me that problem was caused because the main rotor bearing was bad. Apparently, it is a sealed bearing that comes apart due to the excessive spinning. The repair charge is $800.

Just random input, I apologize if this is of no help to you. I've only experienced this with my washer when clothes somehow get bunched up on one side of it. The best I can tell you at the moment is to make sure there is relatively equal distribution of clothes around the "washer bucket thingy" if you hear the bang bang bang again.

When my washer did that, I found that the shocks that hold the tub were bad...
Check out this tip I wrote about that...

The problem might be that your load is off balance and the adjustable feet are not set properly to set the feet you will need a level and all you have to do is twist the wheel until the bubble is in the center you may have to just do the front and back or one side
