My Wii is connected to a widescreen tv. All the settings are correct according to the manual, but the top and bottom of the picture is off the screen. The sides are ok. Just the top and bottom don't...

Hi.

This is probably seting on the TV that needs to be adjusted. Go into the picture settings on the TV and change the viewing settings to a setting that you're comfortable with. For example change the settings from 16.9 to 4.3 or change zoom.

You will no doubt find the correct setting in the TV's picture menu.

Why is picture black & white? Sound and picture are good otherwise.

Hi, i bought a wii a few days ago and like everybody else mine too was in black and white with a grainy picture. I have a Panasonic lcd flat screen and thought I had connected it corrected, I got somebody out to have a look at it and found out there are some connections on the side of the TV which I hadn't even noticed before, once I put the red white and yellow leads in these and set the TV to AV3 everything is in perfect colour. Hope this works for some of you.

Take care

We have sound but no picture on our Wii

Connect a DVD player using red white and yellow to the TV if you get picture and sound, then reconnect the wii red, white, and yellow to the same input.

If only the wii does not show video you will need new red white, and yellow cables. I would try a friends red, white, and yellow cables first even to their TV where their wii is already working.

If new cables are not working you will need to contact Nintendo as there is an issue with your wii. You can't change the wii video to progressive without a component kit, and since you have yellow you obviously don't have a component cable for the wii.

Wii playback on games etc is only green and blue ..no other colours

Sounds like a faulty cable or a loose connection. Check to make sure everything is connected snugly from your Wii to your television. Also try plugging the cables coming from your Wii into another available connector on your television if you have one available. Otherwise it's most likely the cord that connects the two if your tv displays other systems, such as your cable/satellite or dvd player, correctly.

WII CONSOL

When you turn the Wii on, and the light goes from red or orange to green, press A a few times (this would be to get through the warning/safety screen) then wait a minute. Then when you wave your remote about, you will feel it vibrating as it goes over the channel icons on the wii menu screen. Plus a blue light will be lit at the bottom of the remote to denote player 1.

If all of this happens, it is just a lead or TV input issue. If these things do NOT happen, the Wii is broke and needs fixing by Nintendo!

Also, check the refresh rate on your television an make set to be compatible. That may also cause a picture not to show up.

you should make sure that the cords are plugged in correctly in both the wii and the tv. if not, you should try different cords and a different tv.

What connection are you using? Composite, s-video, component? Is the resolution setting correct for your tv? You have the choice of 480p and 480i.
