Re: Panasonic PT L501u Replacement Lamp
Panasonic projectors , even if the lamp has reached end of life gives u 10 minutes to reset the lamp counter so when u replace a new lamp, go to options, lamp counter, reset & press stanby button for confirmation! thats all the unit powers off & when u check the lamp counter , its shows 0 u r done!!!!!!

How long ago did you replace the lamp?
If the lamp has not actually been replaced and you are attempting to bypass this safety feature then I have bad news for you. Once the projector determines current flow through the lamp has exceeded the threshold amount, it will put the projector into the mode it is in now - Critical Lamp Replacement. You can set the projector bulb to low power output and see if that allows you to reset the bulb life timer but, again, if you have not actually replaced the bulb assembly, you are in danger of the bulb bursting under pressure. This can actually damage the projector.
1.Press the MENU button to display the menu screen, and
then press the F or G button to select the OPTION menu. 2. Press the ENTER button, and then press the F or G button
to select LAMP RUNTIME. 3. Press and hold the ENTER button for approximately
3 seconds. The confirmation screen, “LAMP RUNTIME
RESET.” is displayed and select OK. 4. Turn off the power.
This will reset the cumulative usage time for the lamp
unit to zero.
***Here you go and best of luck!***
was this bought new or second hand?
There is a "Lamp Time" setting that can be accessd using your remote control, check this setting.
Look on page 40 and after that of your manual about ambient temperature bulb failure.
By powering off or hittign the reset button the bulb should stay on IF the projector is gettign a signal from a device to show an image. If the projector is not hooked up to a device, laptop, TV, etc. the bulb may turn off to save hours of operation.
