Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have an acer aspire l5100 desktop pc (mini pc) and one day it jut shut down and it wont turn on. i press the blue button (power button) and it turns on, the fans are not spinning , my mouse is glowing and I don't have picture on my monitor, I know it should beep when it starts up, it does but only once, instead og twice. I took it to the place where I bought it and they said it's a motherboard error, but I have seen an thread on a forum with the same problem as I am having, people say that they just restarted the CMOS or somenthing like that (CMOS jumper idk.) can i fix that? I mean how do i do that CMOS thing? :D i know i need to open the case and svitch that jumper, but how do I remove the case? :D

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Black screen on boot up: When I turn on my PC (HP

deff. i could bet 99.9999 percent you got a saver virus that did this . there is a easy fix. when u turn the power on do u see the beginning of boot up were it says f12 for setup. if so u would be able to click on boot options and reinstall windows with a windows cd (xp,vista or seven) if this does nto allow you a good way to check if its the mother board or not. if u take the memory out of your motherboard and start computer you should here 6 beeps. if you do not here 6 beeps this tells us its the mother board

SOURCE: acer L5100 install problem

I think it would get power through the Moniter so I don't think you need a power cord for the CPU. Hope this helped =)

SOURCE: Acer Aspire Sa90-lb7h desktop Will not turn on

I guess it is a power supply failure can you try and plug it directly to light without using battery remove the battery before you power it on then notice how it behave then you will know the actual problem if it power on with light then it is battery problem. if not the check the harddisk maybe it is not properly fit in. or does it show bios setting or welcome bios

SOURCE: I am working a computer an Acer Aspire M5640

Nothing showing up on the screen, definitely not a monitor issue the way you describe it. And you did all physical repair checks and such? Then the most likely problem I see is with the operating system. Windows Vista is so glitchy that any number of things could go wrong with it. I wouldn't put it past that OS. If you could get past the monitor issue perhaps you can uninstall that OS and upgrade to windows seven. Otherwise I'd take it in for a more professional diagnosis =/

More than likely your power supply got fried from a power surge during that storm anyway. You'd be surprised at how worthless most surge suppressors are these days.

Have you by chance downloaded a new Service Pack for Windows?
Try booting into safe mode and doing a System Restore (if possible), if not try taking out your RAM Module(s) and re-seating them (it). If more than one try re-seating each one separately. One bad module could cause erratic behavior.
